  • Lather: Talent Soap Factory - Trash Panda

Day 4 of the TSF domination era of March Madness. In round 3 TSF had the biggest win in the history of March Madness, everyone is talking about it. #1 in shaves, #1 in points, #1 in unique scents. It's incredible, really it's incredible. Nobody has ever done something like this before in the history of March Madness. And we're gonna keep winning, we're gonna win every day because that's what the people want. They want Talent Soap Factory to be successful, and boy is it gonna be

You are going to win so yugely that you will grow tired of winning.

Apogee is so fucking good. I don't understand why I never see it used

Mar 7, 2025 - MM25: Talent Soap Factory

  • Brush: Declaration Grooming Know It All 28mm B14 Badger Knot
  • Razor: Karve Shaving Co. Overlander
  • Blade: Gillette 7 O’Clock Super Stainless (Green) [1]
  • Lather: Talent Soap Factory - Save the Earth - Soap (Vegan)
  • Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Hallows - Splash
  • Fragrance: Lalique - Encre Noire A L'Extreme - Eau de Parfum

It finally dawned on me this morning which scent Save the Earth reminds me of. I paired it with Hallows just to be sure. If Hallows is an earthy, Fall scent, then StE is a Springtime cousin.

Happy Friday!

I’ve seen the love for TSF this month and do not own any of their soaps. You’ve provided great advice in the past, which of their fragrances to you recommend that I start with?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

There are several I would recommend:

  • Trash Panda (Oak Aged Bourbon, Honeyed Figs, Plum, Wild Currant, Sweet Dates, Date Sugar, Vanilla Bean, Brown Sugar Cubes & Vetiver)
  • Wolf Mother (wine, tobacco flower, whiskey, cocoa, marshmallow, sandalwood, cedar, amber, patchouli)
  • Moon Shadow (jasmine, tea, sandalwood).

Moon Shadow is my favorite. Then there are some of their scents that can get really wild, and in a good way:

  • Toki (corn husk, citrus, apricot, rose, orchid, herbs, radish leaf, oak wood)
  • Vandal (Spray Paint, Melon)
  • Frankie Mermaid (grape soda, bubble gum, sugar, tonka bean & wormwood)

So it depends on how adventurous you want to get. Unfortunately, none of these scents are available on the Etsy store right now. I'm assuming he's having the 50% sale to make room for new/returning scents. That is kind of his MO.

If you are looking at buying something during their sale, I would just check out the descriptions of each and see what sounds interesting.

I’m in no rush. Trash Panda and Moon Shadow look particularly interesting to me.

  • Brush: Zenith/Stirling - 510SE-XL 31mm boar
  • Razor: GEM - MMOC (first gen, 1930-1932)
  • Blade: Personna - GEM PTFE (6)
  • Lather: Stirling - Black Ice
  • Post Shave: Stirling - Black Ice Aftershave splash
  • Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented Aftershave balm
  • Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Ubrique EdP

After using disposable Bic Sensitive razors for the better part of two weeks, this was such a fantastic shave. The rigidity and efficiency of the GEM blade was a welcome change.

Black Ice smells great, and Stirling plus boar never disappoints. Have a great Friday, all!

The MMOC has always been good to me and the TTO mechanism has always impressed me.

It's an excellent razor. I also love the TTO mechanism. It's so simple yet effective.

March 7, 2025

  • Brush: Stirling 24mm Synthetic
  • Blade: Personna Twin Pivot Plus Refills, Atra (7)
  • Lather: Chiseled Face - Gearhead - Soap
  • Post Shave: Old Spice - Original - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Goodfellow & Co. - Face Lotion - Kelp & Sea Mineral

Great shave from CFG as per usual. I have Gearhead and Ghost Town Barber, with samples of some other scenes. I'm fairly certain that I'll end up with a tub of Bespoke #1 at some point. I love that one.

  • Brush: Proraso Professional
  • Razor: EldrormR Industries MM24
  • Blade: GEM PTFE (5)
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Bonaparte - Puck
  • Post Shave: Stirling Soap Co. - Unscented - Aftershave
  • Osma: Osma - Osma
  • Bowl: Georgetown Pottery - G20

I entered this month with the idea of Stirling or nothing, but BAM was twice too close for comfort. This time it’s Stirling that is far closer to the bottom of the list than I would like.

Bonaparte is a hilarious scent, but oddly a good one. Apparently it’s quite divisive. I like it though.
