By censoring Luigi, they are bringing more awareness to the fact they are afraid of Luigi. The Verge already published an article about the changes, thus bringing more attention to it. Lol.
This is something that seems to be happening with a lot of social media in america. they are really doubling down on censorship on the platforms (reddit, facebook, tiktok). I personally believe some kind of internal memo was sent by the trump administration that the public does not know about. It's too big of a coincidence. This stuff is what is sending me to open source social media, and i believe that it will make much more of the public go that way too, eventually.
