Overnight white bread recipe from FWSY, but the variant that doesn't divide the loaves, as I wanted to try baking a big-ass loaf

Problem is, I had fed and fridged my starter like two days ago, so it was inactive and ice cold. Even putting in 1.5× the amount of starter it called for, no dice.

Oh well, not the end of the world, my buddy has chickens that'll love it either way

Close-up on the hole makes for a great reaction image, though:

As someone who's never baked bread before (besides the occasional loaf of banana bread), is this not edible? I know it would be tough to work with for a sandwich or something because of the big hole, but couldn't it be toasted or something?

Sure is! It looks similar to my first attempts. I just made a delicious garlic oil dip that worked out really well.

Sleepy starter could probably have risen the loaf if you gave it a lot longer for bulk fermentation, but maybe then you’re baking it at 3AM.

Fortunately it’s a cheap hobby.
