I would love the ability to swipe left to downvote. Right to upvote or vice versa. Long swipes on each side would be a major bonus as well.

Jerboa can do it and it's pretty neat, there are multiple configurations available.

FYI, there are some settings that you can change:

Agree. The swipe to go back action is very redundant now that we have the global back swipe gesture from the edges since a few Android versions ago.
