Columba livia, or the common pigeon.

I imagine this is not the usual angle people are used to seeing pigeons; rather, you probably picture them from above, staring up at you from sidewalk level, begging for a piece of whatever it is your eating, in the dingy second-hand light found at the concrete bottom of your urban canyon.

In this light their iridescent neck feathers are quite striking.

Canon R10, f/14, 1/640sec, ISO-500, the full 400mm using the Bird Lens.

Doves are just pigeons with better PR. Cool pictures! I love how much color variation pigeons have.

Nice pictures! I love pigeons, they are beautiful underated birds. I have a group of around 30 that regularly visit my garden and chill out (because I feed them xD)

Um, well. This freaked out.

Lemmy.world sneezed when I posted this and it seems to think that I cross-posted this from Photography to... Photography. Er, what? I didn't even know that was possible.

Anyway, I only see one post in the community listing so I'm not rightly sure I can delete one of them without deleting "both" of them. Oh well.
