I think I have the potential for overusing Lemmy and the Fediverse, which has caused me to overlook other important areas and activities, such as real-life responsibilities, and I feel somber without them. I also have the potential for dependence on interactions here for my well-being and confidence. What people usually describe this as is "Lemmy or social media addiction." I really need to recognize any patterns in my own use of Lemmy and other social apps.

Yeah, it sure can suck us in, can't it? I've felt that at least once, too, as I've dug in as much as I could upon migrating from Reddit. An app timer might help.

I personally take little breaks from lemmy. Anywhere from a day or two or for a week. Yes, everyone's got their own opinion about lemmy and have their own experiences, so I'm not speaking for anyone else other then myself here.

But to me, lemmy is pretty extremist, negative, and toxic. For the most part anyway. There are a handful of users and communities that are not toxic but lemmy for the most part, in my view, is idk? A bummer?

There's enough drama and hate already in life, I don't need to be spoon fed that shit on a constant basis. So I have to take breaks from here.

As wild as it may seem, I do not have this problem on Reddit. I've blocked accounts and muted subreddits aggressively, so my feed doesn't have the insesent politics or negativity.
