Esteemed Chairman's Club Member,

As we push full steam ahead on Squadron 42 and Star Citizen 1.0, we’re making some moves—literally!

As shared in a previous Letter from the Chairman, we’re taking steps to make sure our developers are right where they need to be for the final stretch, which means moving key staff to be closer to their teams and counterparts in other studios. That also means we’re saying a bittersweet goodbye to our Los Angeles studio.

To celebrate everything our LA studio brought to the project, we're gifting all members of the Chairman’s Club a special piece of our history: an in-game replica of the Constellation artwork that hung above Chris Roberts' desk for so many years.

It’s a way to honor the office, but also your unwavering support in helping make our shared universe a reality.

A studio relic that sat above Chris Roberts' desk in Los Angeles.

The in-game replica heading your way in Alpha 4.1.0.

Here’s to the memories, the future, and all the amazing things still to come!

Thank you for your continued support,

Your Chairman's Club Team

I hope that closing this studio will result in only a few employees to leave. I guess people need to move?

Also this mail will probably spark Doomsayers again :D

I believe most of the folks remaining there were administrative and financial staff. Devs (not sure if all or almost all) were either relocated to Manchester or let go some months ago.

Not a single statement about the affected employees (e.g. "we will be providing severance" etc.), just some in-game bullshit.

Roberts doesn't even reference the actual employees working there and instead talks about how it's bittersweet the studio is being shut down.

What a typical corporate roach.

Yeah, a statement about what's happening to the affected employees would have been good.

From what I've seen in other discussions, it sounds like a lot of employees were let go months ago, while others are moving out to the Manchester office.

To be fair they never really discuss this stuff. Whether it was previous layoffs (including people on important positions like Todd Papy), disappearance of Tony Z etc., all of that happened without any acknowledgement from CIG. There were only few cases (if I recall correctly) when we got some info and those were the times when the person in question made some kind of statement, like the community manager from last year (?) or player base made enough of a stink to get a reaction.

Not that it makes it any better but that's nothing new unfortunately.
