  • Brush: Chisel & Hound "Spice Lily" - TurnNShave Tuxedo 26mm synthetic
  • Razor: Gillette - Old Type
  • Blade: Personna - Lab Blue (4)
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Ubrique
  • Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Ubrique Aftershave splash
  • Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented Aftershave balm
  • Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Ubrique EdP

Lovely shave with Ubrique and the Old Type this morning. This razor is definitely aggressive but gives me a very smooth shave when I can keep the angle right.

Let's go Barrister and Mann!

I haven't given Cbubs a vote yet this month, so I had to fix that.

Thu 27 Mar 2025: Day 14 of March Madness

  • Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Super Badger
  • Razor: Thiers Issard – 69 Médaille Argi (frame back)
  • Lather: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Roman Spice
  • Post Shave: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Roman Spice
  • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Roman Spice

Ok, we're down to the final three and any outcome is a good outcome as far as I'm concerned. My vote still goes to Spearhead, though, and I'll follow along with today's match while smelling cologney-fresh.

Mar. 27, 2025

  • Brush: Proraso Professional
  • Razor: GEM Open Comb Micromatic Gen. 2
  • Blade: GEM PTFE (3)
  • Lather: Barrister & Mann - Presto - Puck
  • Post Shave: Stirling Soap Co. - Unscented - Aftershave
  • Osma: Osma - Osma
  • Bowl: Georgetown Pottery - G20

I wanted a nice clean, fresh, springtime scent for my night shave, and Presto delivers. I blind bought this one on sale and have to say it’s become one of my favorite BAM scents.

I mean, he’s no TSF, but this Will guy seems to have something going on here and I’m pulling for him to win the whole shebang.

  • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Roam

I don't really have a bit planned to pivot to, but I guess this is a teaser for the next installment of the Roam Roundup review series wherein I will review the Soft Heart Series release of Roam.

Mar 27, 2025 - MM25: ~~Talent Soap Factory~~ Catie's Bubbles

  • Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations Atlas II 26mm Raptor Knot
  • Razor: Aylsworth Razors Drakkant Ti
  • Blade: Gillette 7 O’Clock Super Stainless (Green) [4]
  • Lather: Catie's Bubbles - DFTR - Soap
  • Post Shave: Catie's Bubbles - Retreat - Aftershave Lotion
  • Fragrance: First Line Shaving/Black Mountain Shaving - Sutton Distilled - Eau de Parfum

Well, TSF had a good run, making it to the final four as the underdog. Can't go wrong with the remaining three, since all have top tier soap bases and scents that are community favorites.

Speaking of favorite scents, I gave CB DFTR a try this morning. It reminds me of a more mellow Arcane Abyss, which I unfortunately cannot wear anymore because it gives me headaches.

I guess I'm slightly on theme today as there is a boozy note in DFTR, and I wrapped up the shave with Sutton Distilled, which is definitely on theme.

  • Brush: Chisel & Hound Raven 26mm V26 Fanchurian

  • Razor: Geneva Cutlery Co. 6/8" Hollow Ground Round Point

  • Lather: Catie's Bubbles - Midnight Dreary - Soap

  • Aftershave: Noble Otter - Cerberus - Aftershave

  • Fragrance: Declaration Grooming - Cerberus - Eau de Parfum

3 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

This was a test shave for a refreshed edge on this razor. I did this honing as a way of learning the character of a new coticule that I have. A video that discusses the honing is here. This second edge felt a little keener, but equally as comfortable as the first edge I created on this stone. The resulting shave was excellent, and I'm excited to see what else I'm able to do with this stone.

Midnight Dreary is a great scent. Following it with Cerberus worked out because they share similar base notes and vary in the top notes. The stone fruit in Cerberus takes the orchid in Midnight Dreary in a different direction, but it seems natural to me.
