Edit: I'll add to this that some of the specifics in there are definitely out of date. The world is a lot different today than it was 80 years ago. But the concepts are timeless. Be creative, be a fly in the ointment, and above all be careful.
I also know that someone put together a bunch of "modern suggestions" along these lines, but I don't have the link right at hand.
