Something like Trakt.tv to track movies and shows too

I want this so much. And I want apps like Plex to be able to read from it and update my watch progress.
I’ve been looking for something like this for a while !! There’s some self hosted solutions alternatives for trakt, but I don’t want the hassle… A fedi letterbox like would be really amazing! (Imagine integrating it with Jellyfin to rate your films after watching, sharing those reviews and film lists on mastodon, pixelfed and Lemmy, a dream would come true)
Self hosted trakt? That's very intriguing to me, please tell me you've got a name for me to look up!
The ones I know:
Flox - https://github.com/devfake/flox
MediaTracker - https://github.com/bonukai/MediaTracker
iwatched - https://github.com/hakanersu/iwatched
Thanks so much, I'll check them out this weekend
I think the closest you'll get to an "open" platform right now is the community-maintained https://www.themoviedb.org/. Their API is also free for non-commercial use.
What does letterboxd do?
I'm also really interested in something like this. 👀
That’d be really nice maybe someone could fork Bookwyrm for this
Is that like https://criticker.com ? I adore that website, it gives me great recommendations and drilling down into their film database with filters is great.
If you like it, they gave a thing to accept donations to keep it running too :-)
Maybe that new application Ticketbooth with TMDB integration and a Trakt like connection would work. I would love that.
oh ffs, I'd only just found out about letterboxd and now it's just a matter of time until it's ruined by greed.
edit: Having researched the buyers (Canadian investment firm Tiny), I'm a little more hopeful that it won't be ruined. We should definitely be thinking about a fediverse option though.
This is my dream app.
