General Discussion for politics in the UK.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and either a link to reputable news source, or be a text post.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

I've been loving the Private Eye podcast, but they only seem to do about one episode a month. I sometimes listen to The Rest Is Politics but I find it quite hard not to hate Alastair Campbell and Rory Stuart.

Any other good UK politics podcasts out there?

Political Thinking used to be really good. However now a few politicians go on to soften up their image and it shows (Braverman for example, unsuccessfully I might add).

Reasons To Be Cheerful is genuinely interesting. Not much hurr durr my team good your team bad crap but genuine discussion on long term policy. Hopefully Ed can convert some of that into actual change when he gets back in.

Not directly political but: More or Less Behind the statistics is really good. They cover a lot of politics from the lens of numbers and stats.

Also hate Alastair Campbell. My stomach churns every time he opens his mouth. Maybe because I've entered the spin zone? He's successful revitalised his brand by coming out hard against Brexit and made everyone forget about what he did in government. But he's still a cunt in my eyes.

As someone else has already said, 'More Or Less' and 'Reasons To Be Cheerful' are both absolutely essential weekly listens for me.

I've also just started listening to 'Pod Save The UK', and whilst it does line up pretty well with my own politics I'm not sure I adore the hosts as a tandem. Still, we'll see how it goes.

Politics Weekly UK from the Guardian is OK, obviously quite left-leaning. I also quite like The Four Cast

The Bugle is a good one

I've been really enjoying Politics JOE recently. They have a podcast which is great. It's irreverent and silly at times. Aimed at those in their 20s and 30s and very much left leaning, so if that isn't you you're probably not gonna have a good time.

Having said that, I do think they have some really interesting political takes while not taking themselves seriously.

The FT has one called The Political Fix.

Oh God What Now! It was formily called Remaniacs so you get the picture. It's very witty and very well informed, with a large rotating cast of likable folks.
