Quarks exist as 6 types, known as flavors.

Media with calculated averageness for the lowest common denominator of consumers lacks artistic personality, which can be referred to as flavor.

Food/drink without an appealing taste may be due to a lack of flavor.

The punchline is both threeway wordplay and meta-commentary.
