Hints as to why the Giants passed on Shedeur Sanders are starting to trickle out.

In a podcast appearance Thursday night, The Ringer’s Todd McShay revealed that Giants brass didn’t get the best pre-draft impression from Sanders.

“Shedeur didn’t have a great interview with Brian Daboll in a private visit,” McShay said.

“An install package came in. Preparation wasn’t there for it. [He] got called out on it. Didn’t like that. Brian didn’t appreciate him not liking it.”

NFL sources had similar sentiment for The Post’s Ryan Dunleavy after Round 1.

“Sanders’ slip is attributable to both flaws in his game and the brash attitude he displayed during the pre-draft process,” Dunleavy reported.

I don't understand what any of that means.

I could be completely wrong, but my guess based on context is probably that "install package" is like, here's a sample of the playbook, our thoughts on how you fit in the offense, info on the organization, etc. Shedeur didn't familiarize himself with the provided material, was called out for not doing so, and resented that his (lack of) action had consequences. That resentment rather than say, remorse or humility, caused the coach and the rest of the team to lose interest in him.

Ok that makes sense. It helps that you described who was doing what, because that was also confusing for me.

Let me help

If you use apt installing a package is

Apt-get install

For node npm is nice like

Npm i

But if your os doesn’t have the right dependencies a good package manager will explain what’s missing.

In this case the os got salty instead of helpful.

Os being a potential qb.

This largely works to explain it. I would assume an install package is a simplified set of plays and theories for a player to read and understand. Sanders didn't understand the package or wasn't prepared for talking about it.

Yes exactly. it's a test to see if he can grasp concepts quickly and how he'd respond in game situations that a coach throws at him. I think it shows how unresponsive to coaching he is. That's a bad bad sign.

I think being coached by his dad really hurt him.

For real? Because that almost makes sense.

Really wish the giants would have picked this dude. Love seeing that franchise struggle.
