Psst.

Read Carney's book. It deals with climate change as well.

He spends a lot of time in the book making the case that getting to net zero (or better) is necessary if we hope to have a thriving society in the future.

Look, we need to be independent from the US. That means selling our oil to other nations in Europe and Asia, ok?

If that means you need to breathe in more acrid smoke from the nation-wide wildfires the size of a small continent, then that's a sacrifice you need to make for your country.

I mean, are you a true red blooded Canadian, or not? Where's your patriotism?

(/S of course)

I mean, you’re being sarcastic but yes Canada’s sovereignty comes first in my list of priorities right above the climate crisis. I don’t even like to entertain the idea but there’s no way we’d see any green energy under a US occupation of Canada

Edit: from what I’ve read, Carney is big on green energy anyway. Might not be taking the headlines but it’s there

Not only Canada 51st won't be able to do anything about climate change, but the EU won't do as much as needed if there's no stability. And the US is now radiating instability. One huge vulnerability that the EU has dependence on US gas. If we replace the US gas, we can both decouple some of our gas export from the US, we can solve the vulnerability of the EU. And no they can't get off gas, at least not completely and not immediately. Perhaps we can also help stop UK's Drax from burning Canadian forests for power too. If we can shore up Canada's and the EU's stability we may be able to resume doing something about climate change. The bulk of the work would probably still be done by China though.

Poilievre wants to actively pollute again. Bringing back banned single use plastics is the opposite and very unnecessary actions we need to be taking. Fuck that guy - I want less plastic around me as much as possible.

Is fading everywhere. Like, it's on a pause. Watch it fade out completely soon, until climate change fades in itself, with a vengeance.

It already is. Florida is flooding, Canada’s boreal forests and Australia’s outback are burning, and “unusual” weather phenomena are no longer unusual, globally.

But most parts of the world are at least trying to mitigate impact, except the US, Russia, China, Brazil and Canada.

Still not doing enough. In Germany other things ruled the election. Climate Change took globally a backseat last year.

Everyone's distracted by all the fascism. And the billionaires who profit from climate destruction probably like it that way.

When I was in Curacao on the Atlantic facing side of the island I was literally walking on beaches of washed up plastic spoons and forks and knives and a lot of shoe insoles. Polievre is so far in the pockets of big oil, he exclaims this is necessary, because bread that isn't in a plastic bag goes moldy. He is so dim witted, ill informed, and disconnected from basic concepts that he doesn't even know about bread storage. So stupid. He and Danielle will forever be the idiot King and Queen of the plastic spoon. I hope he loses his seat.

Less people understand it’s real now
