So I’m looking for a new set of beard/other clippers as my current one finally fell apart after almost 20 years. I’m looking for a professional, corded one that you can put different size guards on. So Lemmy Men, what are you using?

I use the Wahl Peanut and I’m very happy with it

Been using a peanut and a straight razor to cut my family's hair since the pandemic started. It's a great little clipper.

I tried the peanut but didn't that it couldn't be zero gapped. For beards I like the Wahl professional five star detailer. It can be zero gapped, which gives a close enough shave on my beard edges that I don't bother with actually shaving. This has the added benefit of not causing any razor burn, but as with any zero gap clippers they can feel kind of sharp on the shin.

One down side is they only have 1/2, 1, and 1 1/2 guards. There aren't any others available, either.

The cheapest one from Wahl. Mine is probably also hitting the 20 year mark, and starting to act up a bit So I will probably buy this equivalent

This is the correct answer unless you have unusually thick hair, I had to bump up to a more expensive tier because the cheap one just didn't have enough ass.

So I just took mine apart, emptied it for all the hair inside, realigned the shears and adjusted the coil, and it's good to go again.

It's a Wahl series 100 btw, and it costs around 25 €

Oster Fast Feed with Andis purple magnetic guards. Last kit you'll ever buy.

Is there a remind me bot for lemmy?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

edit: that one I tried. didn't work.

this guy says he made one

actually I can see a few on GitHub and people mention they made them, but there are no mentions within the last year of a remind me bot so I don't know if any are active.

I'm really curious if any of these work but I have to go play Ghost of tsushima, so I don't have time right now.

thanks for that correction!

That's my speech to text at work, also, I assumed it had an extra syllable for whatever reason haha.

FWIW, the correction was supposed to be subtle enough to not overshadow the sincerity in the rest of the sentiment. 😅😜
