Don't be mean. I promise to do my best to judge that fairly.

I'd like you to meet my Steppe son.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 years ago

He looks a little plain.

I really like this one

What about Forest?

Also, this appears to be a lemmy of a tumblr of a tweet. How meta.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 years ago

It’s the internet ecosystem

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Forest is a common name, yep.

So is Savanna.

Never heard of anyone named Prairie, but it would also work imo and not be too weird.

Probably wouldnt have too much luck with Temperate Rainforest or Alpine Grasslands.

And then... then theres Bog.

It works as a name, but you probably do not want to be named Bog.

"So your name is Pete?"

"Not quite, it's peat, short for peatland"

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 years ago

Taiga is another biome that is used as a name.

I worked with a woman named Savannah. One time someone called her Rain Forest instead and since our job sucked, we all started laughing hysterically.

Tundra could make a pleasant-sounding name

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 years ago

I was thinking Taiga, that way when my daughter gets to school the other little nightmare monsters don't call her "Truck".

Savannah isn’t a biome, it’s a city. Savanna is a biome and I’ve never met someone with that name.

I could possibly understand Bog, Valley, Tundra, Oasis, or Isthmus as names. I've heard stupider names.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I don't know what Isthmus means, but honestly would be a cool name

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago

An isthmus is a relatively narrow strip of land separating two bodies of water, and linking two larger landmass.

An easy example is how central America has that thin bit that connected to South America before they dug the Panama canal. The Suez canal crosses another isthmus that we dug through like that.

He just wants to catch his daughter with her boyfriend and be able to yell "get out of my swamp"

Dry Sclerophyll Forest, it's time for bed.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Oxbow Lake, get your shoes on before you miss the school bus!

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 years ago

I wouldn't fuck with anyone named Tundra or Mangrove. Those mfs might be Power Rangers in disguise

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

Wait, those are actually good

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Because they're not named after the biome, they're named after the city. Like Austin, Brooklyn, Phoenix, Dallas, etc.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Savannah like the biome>>>>>>Savannah like the city.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago

Meadow is a good name.

  • Tundra
  • Taiga
  • Chaparral
  • Plateau
  • Woodland
  • Rainforest
  • Grassland
  • Desert
  • Wetland
  • Swamp
