Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

A tiny bit of salt is actually pretty damn nice in coffee! And I mean a small sprinkle on an entire pot

Some people put butter in their coffee.

But that's actually delicious though.

I’m not sure about salt, but my mom puts red wine in it. 0/10 not recommended.

Are you sure she's your mother and not an alien?

This is hilarious

A pinch of salt can lower the bitter taste of coffee, and is also good in dark cocoa. It also helps make grapefruit taste sweeter and If you are making veggie noodles (turnips make great veggie noodles) soaking the raw noodles in a little kosher salt/water can take the bitter flavor out so they taste more like pasta noodles when they are cooked.

Very interesting, thanks!

The night before my wedding I had stayed at my folks place. In the morning I was making a coffee and my mum asked if I was nervous. I said, nah not really.

Took a sip of my coffee and I had put salt in instead of sugar.

Do not recommend.

Yeah, this is a trick that can help sometimes. I've seen competition class baristas do it and shrug.

Wouldn't surprise me. I used to know a girl who put black pepper in her milk.

Putting salt in coffee is relatively common. Put a very small sprinkle in shitty coffee and it makes it a lot more tolerable. Think bad waiting room coffee etc.

sounds fine to me

Black pepper has something to do with absorption by the body.

I do it every morning. Once I started, never looked back.

Never tried salt, but I have had bacon flavored coffee, and it seems to me like a lot of the flavor of bacon is salt, idk… bacon makes pretty much everything taste better

People at work put hot sauce in their coffee
