I drive past this road whenever I drive to Vegas. After a few times I decided to Google it up and read all the stuff on the Wiki. I'm assuming OP did the same?
Not driving to Vegas! I don't remember when I first heard of it, but I was reminded of it talking to someone who worked at the Desert Studies Center
