Curious that the article dilutes Thompson's position to "one of its top executives" against terming him "Witty's predecessor as CEO for over three and a half years."
Thompson was CEO of United healthcare, one of several organizations under the UnitedHealth umbrella. He wasn't the top guy in the company. The article is accurate.

I wonder what cnn expects us to think “surfaced” means here.
This likely should be Mangione’s new defence. He became aware of this illegal activity and was acting to protect shareholder value?
