⚄︎ Perchance

This is a Lemmy Community for perchance.org, a platform for sharing and creating random text generators.

Feel free to ask for help, share your generators, and start friendly discussions at your leisure :)

This community is mainly for discussions between those who are building generators. For discussions about using generators, especially the popular AI ones, the community-led Casual Perchance forum is likely a more appropriate venue.

See this post for the Complete Guide to Posting Here on the Community!

Rules

1. Please follow the Lemmy.World instance rules.

2. Be kind and friendly.

  • Please be kind to others on this community (and also in general), and remember that for many people Perchance is their first experience with coding. We have members for whom English is not their first language, so please be take that into account too :)

3. Be thankful to those who try to help you.

  • If you ask a question and someone has made a effort to help you out, please remember to be thankful! Even if they don't manage to help you solve your problem - remember that they're spending time out of their day to try to help a stranger :)

4. Only post about stuff related to perchance.

  • Please only post about perchance related stuff like generators on it, bugs, and the site.

5. Refrain from requesting Prompts for the AI Tools.

  • We would like to ask to refrain from posting here needing help specifically with prompting/achieving certain results with the AI plugins (text-to-image-plugin and ai-text-plugin) e.g. "What is the good prompt for X?", "How to achieve X with Y generator?"
  • See Perchance AI FAQ for FAQ about the AI tools.
  • You can ask for help with prompting at the 'sister' community Casual Perchance, which is for more casual discussions.
  • We will still be helping/answering questions about the plugins as long as it is related to building generators with them.

6. Search through the Community Before Posting.

  • Please Search through the Community Posts here (and on Reddit) before posting to see if what you will post has similar post/already been posted.

I've noticed that certain terms or tags are causing rendering issues with the new model. The outputs are highly unstable and inconsistent—beyond what I would consider normal variation.

This doesn't appear to be due to new interpretation logic or prompt strategy shifts. Instead, many of these generations look glitched, underprocessed, washed out, or as if rendering was prematurely stopped. The saturation is often low, and overall image quality degraded.

I suspect that some of these tags may be acting like "stop codons", halting generation early—possibly similar in effect to using guidance_scale = 1.

From my testing, the problematic tags seem to fall into two groups:

Furry-related terms: furry, fursona, anthro, etc.

Illustration-related terms: drawing, line work, cel shading, etc.

It’s possible these tags are being masked or diluted when mixed with stronger or more stable tags, which may explain why some prompts still produce acceptable or mixed results. However, when multiple of these unstable tags are combined, the generation almost always fails—suggesting a kind of cumulative destabilization effect.

By contrast, photography and painting-style tags remain mostly unaffected and render normally.

I'm willing to bet the training data for those tags simply hasn't completed and/or hasn't started yet.

Quote from the notes you can find by clicking the little link that appears when you are generating an image:

This new image model is still training. It's currently worse than the previous one at some things. It'll steadily improve in quality and gain new knowledge over the next few months.

MONTHS

Training takes a long time and a lot of the GPU power on the hardware this model runs on (part of the speed issue). It is getting better as more training data completes, but please be patient.

Yeah, that's the correct and official answer. But I don't want just sit watch and wait rather than point it out - What if I made this faster, or it would take months to fix in the original plan? I do notice some progress 24 hours later after I posted this. Coincidence? Nothing promising for a whole week before.

Of course it isn't a coincidence. That is the entire point of the training! Training will literally improve the output quality as it is fed more data on different styles, celebrities, artists, etc. this model does not include everything, and that was for a reason. The dev is attempting to run this model on very limited resources, so they loaded the base model (not to mention, many of the popular/new models are deliberately excluding data on celebs for fear of lawsuits). So, it's going to need training because it needs to be very carefully trained in order to keep memory and GPU usage down.

So, no, you are not going to make the hardware work faster.

No, if there's anything about selectivnism or guessing around, you also fall into not reading the last line about dev log about update Send feedback and report bugs using the feedback box below. I feel like doing my part and I feel even better when this actually improved.

Maybe it's coincidence but I found a way to brighten my moody mind.

It's much meaningful then telling people things will get better in.... How many months?

It's never about computer science.

nice copypaste disclaimer :)

much wise

What do you mean? It's useful information.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

exactly. it wasnt sarcasm. good job

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ah, thanks. People have been so angry about the new model lately. I'm just trying to get this information out there.

I've read through it day 0. And I'm inpatient because you know, I favor Cel-shading drawing and furry

Prompt A: An anthropomorphic fursona artwork of a furry fox, in simple shading and cel-shading style, with flat colors and bold line work.

Prompt B: A humanoid robotic fox concept artwork, in digital oil painting and 3D rendering style, with rich brush textures and vibrant layered colors.

Prompt C (A+B): An anthropomorphic fursona artwork of a furry yet robotic fox character, combining cel-shading and simple flat color techniques with digital oil painting and 3D rendering elements. The image features bold line work and stylized contours alongside rich brush textures, vibrant layered colors, and subtle lighting inspired by both illustration and concept art traditions.

Somehow the results could be more stable from like 1/100 to 1/5, I hope this is part of the training, not something random and occasional.

Please, can someone bring back the old model? I'd pay $30 a month for it.
