That sounds great. I don't have any of that shit.
Cocktails, the libationary art!
A place for conversation about cocktails, ingredients, home mixology, the bar industry or liquor industry, glassware - this is not an exhaustive list. If you think it's in some way related to cocktails it's probably fine.
If you post something you didn't create give credit whenever possible.
Pictures and recipes are encouraged when posting a drink as a standalone post. Example of an ideal drink post:

We love garnishes.
Remember the code of conduct, keep it nice. In terms of cocktails- specific etiquette that might be different from other communities:
Mentioning your blog, insta, website, book or bar is allowed, yes. For now at least, we do allow self-promotion. If it gets out of hand this might change.
A good post with a drink you don't like is still a good post! Try not to conflate the drink and the post or poster. If someone has a relevant title, gorgeous photo and clearly formatted recipe of what you consider a truly terrible drink, a comment is more appropriate than a downvote.
On that topic: Polite critique/reviews of drinks (or posts, images, etc.) is allowed here. Encouraged , even. It's a good tool for improving your drinks and content. Really, just be nice.
If you don't have any Laphroaig on hand, you can substitute a different whiskey shaken well with a full cigarette ashtray.
or just any other Islay scotch if you don't smoke and don't have an ashtray
You just reminded me of the Newport shot: 1:1 mix of mezcal and branca menta.
Way better than it sounds too.
If there's one Islay malt that I'd not be as reluctant to put in a cocktail, it's that Laphroaig, but somehow the thought still feels wrong.
Fun fact: As a kid, I crossed the inner-German border in Berlin frequently before the Wall came down. At the Friedrichstraße subway station, they used to use a floor cleaner with a very dictinct phenolic smell to it. So whenever I have an Islay whisky, I cannot help but remember these days before 1989.
Isn't Brennevin just a strong clear unspiced alcohol? Akevitt (Aauavita) is caraway spiced (+more depending on brand) and barrel aged in sherry casks. "Linje" specifically is aged on Wilh.Wilhelmsen ships going to the southern hemisphere, crossing the equator twice. (Hence the name "line") You can see the name of the boat on the backside of the label. The rolling of the waves and the heat from the sun somehow helps with the maturing stored alcohol.
Not sure about what to substitute aquavit with tbh.
Edit: Funny name, combining alcohol from Norway and Scotland.
Oh interesting. I will check!
My bad. You can get Aquavit clear as well. Often dill spices and not aged in barrels. Good for seafood, and a mostly swedish brands.
I think the best one is Gilde Non Plus Ultra. (Gilde is the brand for Norwegian farmer co-op for cow, pig and sheep meat, but don't know if they have anything to do with it. The word is old Norwegian for a feast) Made from potatoes and it's a blend using the soleras system so it contains several different maturing levels.

That’s sounds really tasty. I do wonder why they specify ‘combiner’…that’s a hill no one needs to die on lol
Assuming you mean the triple sec choice? If so I definitely didn’t have that one and just a common one.
This has been on my list forever! Aquavit is common by me and so is always writing down recipes that use it.
Try the Norwegian Paralysis if you haven't had it.
I’ve tried that drink; I love it!
Glad it could help! It’s now in my top favorites! Also there are more recipes for it. I’ll share.
