I’m just amazed by the amount of Star Trek content on lemmy. I didn’t know so many people still liked it.
So much content that you guys have convinced me to start watching star trek. I'm 6 seasons into TNG now.
Hey, we got one! Also, that you made it past TNG season 1 is a feat in and of itself. But don't fret, the last season, while you'd think they'd have their shit together, includes a couple of it's worst episodes. Soldier through.
I forgot where I saw the watchlist of star trek. It might've been in this sub or on the reddit but TNG was recommended if I wanted something fairly relevant and modern. I never realized how old Star Trek was and it's wonderful to have communities like this to guide people how to get started. Keep up the good engagement everybody!

Same. I watched strange new worlds, now TNG.
TNG was great, I used to watch it on TV with my mom and now I enjoy just turning on a random episode.
I'm tired of all the "Shut up Wesley".
Yeah. It was the weakest writing in the show's history, including the entire Lore introduction.
I will never tire of telling Wesley to shut up.
Sooner or later, they will be turned.

There's a certain fondness and comradery surrounding their use. Perhaps, a bit of one-upsmanship, but I wouldn't be so base as to participate.

Idk, this gets a pass from me. More so before all the new shows came out though, those are easy to love.
The old stuff is difficult to get into though, and there is usually a lot of bad writing, poor production values and terrible acting to get past before it starts getting good.
And sadly a lot of 60's and 90's Trek fans are bigoted old men, which is another mark against the show for anyone with a passing interest who's met a Trekkie of this caliber irl or looked into fan spaces online.
