First thing I did after opening the new account after the lemm.ee shutdown was block .ml instances. Significant reduction in exposure to stupid ass takes.

It's a pretty interesting story about a guy who tried to commit suicide instead of renounce Falun Gong practice. The prison sent him to a hospital where they conducted surgery over the rusted tools the guy ingested and without clear consent. Apparently after open chest surgery he just walked out of the hospital fire escape and went to Thailand.

The article seems to describe an incredibly incompetant security system more than anything, unless there wasn't as much actual orchestrated state action as the article speculates.

This is largely US propaganda. Buying into the China bad bullshit is US government funded propaganda. I believe it was just last year congress set aside around $1.5 billion for anti-China campaigns. The US government has never been the good guy, and it’s a little wild to me when liberals buy into the trash. It probably shouldn’t. US liberals are generally capitalism loving right wingers.

"Social credit", the bullshit about Taiwan being "native territory", trying to bully their way into territory expansion and their support of Russia kinda sets a specific tone, doesn't it?

Fuck that Chinese dictatorship and all the fucking Internet shills that can't help but suck CCP dick.

It's super easy to get to the bottom of propaganda articles without knobbers like you starting shit wherever they can.

This ain't about "US good" or "China bad". I am just calling out that dumbfucks like you are 90% of the problem with how people from different countries perceive each other. Did you really aim to convince anyone of your beliefs? I don't think so.

Go back to .ml where you belong.

China has a democratically elected government. Your liberal talking points make you sound like a sheep.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 6 days ago

China has a democratically elected government.

Yes, North Korea as well. God, these liberals are so stupid.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Welp, since we have gone down that path, I think this liberal talking point is hysterical: https://youtu.be/K9AF6OtHtYs

(The above even includes a hair of excessive drama that is even a bit much for me.)

I await your wall of URLs of counter points, hopefully mixed with some deflection and tie-ins to political affiliation. According to your brethren on ml, the issues with these cities were resolved two years ago...

Also, did you notice which community you are in?

Bad Empanada has an hour long video going over this topic. There's definitely some western propaganda in circulation but there's even more Chinese propaganda trying to hide the truth.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago

why ya linking bad empanada? He's fuckin crazy

[-] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago

Because despite who he is as a person his video essays are quality content.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

He's called for innocent people to be killed

[-] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

So nuance just goes right over your head? Fair enough.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

What nuance is there for wanting innocent civilians dead?

[-] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

Exactly, no nuance with you. The nuance here is with what he has said. The nuance here is that him saying something we don't agree with doesn't mean his video is somehow bad.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

You can't separate the art from the artist when the artist is a political commentator, which he is, and he has said some very hateful and extremist things.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

You can't agree with every opinion a political commentator has, so according to you no political commentator should be listened to.

How about this. You tell me who I should listen to you and I'll tell you how you're wrong.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

It's a bit of a strange position to take. You can read some of his bigotry here: 1 2

Like he's an anti-semitic nutter who regularly denies atrocities and genocides, he promotes racism, he calls for nations to be nuked, he harasses rape victims, he doxxes teenagers and also rape victims. If you want to argue that an extremist bigot can make points that an everyman can agree with, then surely you have to do the same for the other extremists, such as Alex Jones, Nick Fuentes and Cadence Owens? It's only fair afterall.

Or is it because you find yourself agreeing with him?

[-] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

No, I don't agree with everything Bad Empanada says. I disagree with his extremist takes. But unlike you just because I don't like some of the things he says or does I don't instantly think he is wrong in everything he says. When it comes to the Uyghur "vocational camps" I think he has a valid take, that China is essentially doing a genocide and they're doing a pretty poor job at covering it up.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

For the love of god get over yourself and what the entirety of the video already. You're linking an article about the same thing Bad Empanada talks about, except he goes more in depth with actual sources to back up what he's talking about (which the BBC article doesn't do).

Me, you and Bad Empanada are all in agreement on what is happening in Xinjiang but because you don't like Bad Empanada and you probably also don't like me (because I dared to link Bad Empanada) you seem to think we're in disagreement. We're not. Don't do a Destiny and decide what (or who) is right or wrong based on how you feel about things.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

I don't know you.

But I would like to know more about what nuance is used for using a nuke to blow up a country.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I've already addressed what I meant by nuance and I'm not going to repeat myself. At this point I'm just going to assume you're doing this in bad faith, so I'm not going to respond again until you start acting like a normal person.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

okay, your choice

[-] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

I was literally about to link that and I saw you already did

[-] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

Didn't expect to see him get upvoted as a source here.

[-] [email protected] 28 points 1 week ago

What's your opinion on why Russia invaded Ukraine?

[-] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago

Russia is a fascist state. Since the USSR fell it’s been run by the rich, just like the US.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago

And what's your opinion on the USSR?

[-] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago

An incredible success. If the capitalists see you as a threat, you’re doing something right.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 6 days ago

Really? I wouldn't call it a success, seeing how it collapsed. Also it was horribly authoritarian. I don't think you and I are ever going to get along.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 5 days ago

From illiterate to space bound in 50 years. It was absolutely a success. I’m guessing you don’t really know much about the USSR. You were force fed the idea that socialism is bad in school and it stuck, like most poorly educated Americans. The truth is socialism produces results very quickly. The people working for the people, rather than some shitty corporation. The USSR went from around 10% of the population being literate to 80% within 10 years. It was an incredible success. There’s plenty of information out there regarding the CIA basically just making shit up. The usual US propaganda that we now see with any country that shows socialist values today, such as China. We wouldn’t want the working class rising up.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

I think socialism is good actually. If you think that's what the USSR was doing you drank the Kool aid.

Edit: also: I'm not an American, good job making assumptions about me.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 5 days ago

There were significant changes throughout, but from what I’ve read, the early years were pretty magical. From illiteracy to space bound in 50 years is nothing to scoff at. Stalinism is very controversial, indeed.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago

Stalin was evil.

[-] [email protected] 23 points 1 week ago

Do you value diversity, equity, and inclusion? Do you like having the ability to freely talk about ideas which might challenge The Party? Do you enjoy free and fair elections?

If your answer to those questions is "no" then your value system is quite at odds with the average Western Liberal. Liberals love liberalism. China doesn't like liberalism. It's pretty obvious why there's friction between them, no propaganda required.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

Of all the shitty responses, this one is the best. You’re wildly naive. You buy into the political theatre. Good stuff. Liberalism doesn’t give a shit about your DEI. There’s no such thing as ethical capitalism. China has a long way to go, but it’s improving the quality of life of its citizens by moving towards socialism. What’s the US doing? War crimes, meddling with elections, bending over for billionaires. Sounds nice! Liberalism has never, and will never be for the working class.

[-] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

Ahh yes, whataboutism. Try actually addressing the point someone is making instead of making distracting excuses. Did you know two things can be true at the same time?

[-] [email protected] 15 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Yikes

Got any actual proof? Or are you just repeating CCP propaganda?

Hot take, China fucking sucks too pal. Probably even worse, gotta paint that ground green. (If you know, you know.)

[-] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Hot take: They, and a few more are all massively bad at their political core. They all have good, suppressed citizens at the bottom.

All the global superpowers commit warcrimes against humanity. It does not matter who is the comparative worst.

Smaller billionaires don’t become ethical in the shadow of bigger billionaires

Every single global crime against life should be known and talked about.

Documenting hate speech, conspiracy theories, apologia/revisionism, and general tankie behaviour across the fediverse. Memes are welcome!

What is a Tankie?

Alternatively, a detailed blog post about Tankies.

(caution of biased source)

Basic Rules:

Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.

Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.

Apologia(Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism, Islamic Terrorism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.

Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users as it handwaves their extremism.

Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.

Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post as opposed to arguing.

You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically only last 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction will double the amount. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.
