Xbox controller not working in Undertale (lemmy.world)

I had to enable proton compatibillity to even get the game to detect the controller however even after doing that the analog stick won't go up. I tried enabling steam input but that didn't work either

Are you sure you can use a controller on this game without any other setup? Steam does not have controller support listed on the store page. It’s been a very long time since I touched undertale but it didn’t have controller support before IIRC.

It works fine in Windows, although if it took that long to get controller support maybe it’s best experience with keyboard and mouse anyway

I believe in order to use a controller for Undertale you have to map keyboard buttons to the controller using steam.

If that’s the case I’ll probably just use a keyboard, I was under the impression the analog sticks were helpful for some of the boss fights but if they’re just mapped to keys then I won’t have analog control anyway
