This guy falsified and misrepresented data, he should be fired and medical license revoked https://www.politico.com/news/2023/02/22/florida-joe-ladapo-investigated-covid-report-00084075

As a medical professional this amount to malpractice.

#DeSantis literally picked this guy because he's a coin-operated fraudster.

Alas, malpractice is a matter for States to decide. Each state has a Board of Medical Examiners, e.g. Florida Board of Medicine(https://flboardofmedicine.gov/). I don't suppose it would go far, but it would be interesting to test, by reporting Florida Surgeon General Joe Ladapo to the board. The board's job is to protect citizens from malpractice, so it's worth a try.

The people most likely to believe it are geriatric republicans who wouldn’t survive Covid. They’re Killing their base.

That sounds like a net positive gain for the country, though.

I can agree, they will take down many others wit them on their way down though.

Florida man here (sigh). Was at the Dr for a routine physical a month ago. My doc is a stand-up guy and very well versed in dealing with the crazies down here. When it came time to discuss vaccinations, he said, "so, have you gotten the flu vaccine yet?". I noted that I had an appointment at CVS later that day. Then he said, "and the Florida Surgeon General recommends that people under the age of 65 do not get the Covid vaccine..." (I am well under 65) and let it hang in the air. We stared at each other for a few seconds. Then I said, "yup, getting that one at CVS later too." He sighed, said "ah, perfect" and moved things along. As it turns out, the hospital the doc is affiliated with had sent out several memos about exactly what should/should not be said to both try and encourage people to get vaccinated but NOT incur the wrath of the state. It's a different world down here...

Howdy neighbor.

You really can't believe anything that is said by a member of the Florida state government. You can almost assume that the truth is the exact opposite of what they say, but probably not even then.

Hey remember the time Desantis had the Florida state police raid that public health official's house at 2am because she dared to talk publicly about the covid positivity rates?

If a person wanted the best results for themselves and their family, they should look to the experts of the states with the best results. FL's results are not the best, thus the recommendations of FL's experts can be safely ignored.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I'd hope that those who really do want that (and don't just like to grandstand about how much they love their family) would have already noticed that the GOP should be ignored where possible because if they are giving any kind of advice, there's an angle to it.

I am having a hard to trying to understand why a state seems to hate its citizens so much, and why those citizens chose to remain there.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Most don’t have a choice.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Most do. We were very- VERY low income. Still managed to move from Orlando to 3,000 miles in WA. Saved money, and only took with us what we needed.

I understand that some cannot do this due to their personal circumstances, but you’d think that if anyone there really cared, you’d still see people moving out in droves. Yet… they’re not.

Do you really think the entire state is so destitute that they are forced to live in that shithole?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I did some work in Fort Lauderdale for a while. There are apartment complexes that stretch for miles with broke, geriatric occupants. I think you underestimate the poverty in this country, especially among the aged and/or disabled.

There was a report stating over 60% of the population couldn’t handle an emergency $400 bill. But it is the communities fault isn’t it. Sure.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

So… EVERYONE should stay just because some can’t leave. That’ll surely fix the problem! Oh… wait. That’s status quo!

How’s that going for ya?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I’m still reiterating my original point that not everyone can leave

Or do you still not get it?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago

I’m still reiterating my point that I never said EVERYONE should leave.

Or do you just like to argue?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

...and those citizens continue to vote for people that seem to hate them.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Terrifying.
