A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Low-hanging fruit such as random Twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Matrix chat.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified ‘western’ information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Matrix chat instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

11. No misinformation

NCD exists to make fun of misinformation, not to spread it. Make outlandish claims, but if your take doesn’t show signs of satire or exaggeration it will be removed. Misleading content may result in a ban. Regardless of source, don’t post obvious propaganda or fake news. Double-check facts and don't be an idiot.

For anyone confused as to who these are, the one on the left is Richard Stallman and the one on the right is Linus Torvalds.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I've heard of the guy on the right, of course, but who is Linus Torvalds? Does he deserve to be placed in a meme next to one of the old gods? His sunglasses make me think no.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yes. Yes he does. He's the inventor of Linux

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 year ago

Inventor of Linux? No, you're thinking of Linus Tech Tips

Motherfucking ~~Mike Vining~~ Bill Cronin. What people think a tough guy looks like vs an actual badass. Give me that Rick Moranis drip

this aint Mike Vining;

The photos on the internet that identify me as being on General H. Norman Schwarzhopf, Jr., security detail during Operation DESERT STORM is not me. It is William F. "Bill" Cronin III, a friend and co-worker in Delta. I did not do any personal security during my time in Delta. I did conduct security/survivability assessments within the United States and world-wide during my time in Delta.

half way down the additional information on this page:

When the guy holding the rifle looks like he could be doing your taxes at HR Block, run.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 year ago

Dude looks like he could double tap your nuts clean off before he’s even had his morning coffee

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

After wikipedia-holing on the topic, apparently that's not actually Mike Vining

I want to know what a Sgt.-Osiris-Lincoln-stone-cold-BAMF carried in the pockets of his sensible Dockers.

This man was the first bomb technician for Delta Force.

His hobbies include stamp collecting.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

He collects stamps, baseball cards, and the heads of his enemies

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago

Reminds me of that armored truck driver guy in Africa who laid down the law after a crazy car chase

That Rick Moranis looking motherfucker is Mike Vining, and he's more of a badass than all of us put together. He's a former member of Delta Force, which is the absolute best members of each of the special forces from all of the military branches. You do not become a member of Delta Force without being one of the toughest, most determined, most suffering tolerant people on the planet.

Here he is in Vietnam in 1970

And here he is (front row, at right) as a member of Delta Force's C Team, B Squadron.
