Mall traffic has been declining for decades. It's not like I haven't gone into one every few years to look around.. The last time I purchased something there was dress cloths for work, and maybe some dress shoes.

NOTHING about those stores has kept up with the times or trends, they just kind of kept falling more and more into disrepair as time went on..

It isn't even US competitors, a lot of what they sell I would go elsewhere to Canadian options for anyway.

I am more likely to purchase furniture and appliances from The Brick or Trail Appliances.

The Bay or HBC was decades over due for a complete overhaul of its assortment and its retails space.

FYI the Kirkland Signature 2-ply is labels made in Canada with domestic and imported materials. (obviously less Canadian than going with a Canadian brand but still made here)

Good thing as a Canadian I don't care what Americans THINK of us too much. They value their independence so do we.

Firefox was stubborn enough not to support H.265 till JUST recently and only on windows.. Doesn't work with my 4k security cameras as well as Chrome or Safari based browsers.

But ublock origin lite is by the same dev.. Not as many features but it conforms to the new rules and is still much better than not having a blocker if you use chrome or edge.

Nearly all brands have produced unreliable and a reliable series of hard drives.

Really have to look at them based on series / tech.

None of the big spinning rust brands really can be labeled as unreliable across the board

console = network, game = content.. is my argument.

IE Nintendo was happy to sell more units with Sega content, and sega moving to software / content had no choice but to sell on other platorms.

I’m not sure if Nintendo would get a percent of a 3rd party devs profits.

Nintendo makes money on EVERY cart sold and every electronic purchase.. it is a major part of their EXPENSIVE model and why Nintendo platform games always seem more expensive. It is also why they still sell cart based systems so they are the ONLY supplier of the media, but now they have their own eStore as well.

Nintendo allowed Sega’s Sonic Heroes to compete with Super Mario Sunshine on their own game conosle

99% sure that only happened after Sega stopped making competing consoles. IE more game content benefited their console platform

Probably the first article in a while that clearly outlines WHERE the negations are at and what each side wants.

There are several common words and terms I would like to stop seeing posts about but only in specific communities. Having the words or terms blocked in other communities or global matches too many things.

It would also be nice for the filter to be Title, URL or body specific.

I was recently trying to get some of the 4 player local games I have to work remotely.. Some have native multiplayer but with limitations (castle crashers only lets two local and two remote players play) bople battle only allows one local player in remote multi player mode.

However for both the above I was able to get remote play together working which basically let me map the remote player to a controller and play the game in local mode.

This however only worked on these games, I THINK they are linux native.. Games that didn't work / provide no controller mapping for remote play together Streets of rage 4, TMNT Redders revenge did not work. These games show support for remote play together in the steam library but I suspect the limitation is on the steam deck?

Anyone else have experience with Remote Play Together on the steam deck? It is nice as the remote party doesn't need a copy of the game and as noted gets around some of the multi player limits of some games.

Any suggestions? Alternatives? Tweaks?

Wouldn't be the holiday shopping season without some payment processing outages.

lemmy.world is a victim of an XSS attack right now and the hacker simply injected a JavaScript redirection into the sidebar.

It appears the Lemmy backend does not escape HTML in the main sidebar. Not sure if this is also true for community sidebars.

askacanadian has no posts yet is "trending"

Just curious as this is all fun and open till it scales to expensive. What is the lemmy.ca plan to sustain / fund it self?
