Hadgar is such a neat kid I'm totally rooting for him and to see his quali!!!

She absolutely would. And then take a million pictures of the clouds or flowers or both.

Thank you! It's the best capture of the original expression yet.

I'm also really proud of the progression from large brush/low detail to small brush high detail in her eyes. I've seen YouTubers do that and I really like it but struggled to replicate it.

๐Ÿ˜‚, love a good mom joke!

This is from my favorite photo of her, she's looking at one of my kids and just how happy she is to be in the moment looking at the children I love was special to me. She's not a fan of any picture that makes her look older than 29 unfortunately.

I'm hoping to finish this book today! I'm loving it so far. Much more to my taste than his fiction work (which I've also enjoyed). I hope he writes more non fiction!

Related, I have tickets to his book things next week and I can't wait! I'm totally wearing my pizza John shirt.

For whatever reason I can't just upload an image these days. So I'm trying this instead.

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be. - Thanos

Lol

I hadn't even thought of that. That is rather poetic, thank you!

Thank you! And yes I like trying to add some flourishes of color.

They have so much style. No idea how they ended up with so much style when my wife and I probably have negative style.

When I asked my son if I could post this he replied "AAAAAAAA! MY FACE FOR THE WHOLE INTERNET TO SEE? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO /s nah post that shit it was fire asf"

I think that means yes.

She gave me permission to post this as long as I don't share her name. But she didn't say I couldn't tell you she was our fire bug. She's given us a grandchild and is still grounded for lighting the carpet in her bedroom on fire.

I did this on my samsung phone using #sketchbook by autodesk.

Left is looking at the model and painting for 1.5 hours, right is taking a picture of the model and keeping the photo of her next to the painting for 15 minutes. Clearly focusing on painting from a digital reference is a much different skill set than looking at a person. I'm going to try to learn the grid process for when I go back.

He's too dangerous to be left alive!

This is the last in the series, for now at least. Now I'm going to try to paint some of my family members, which I don't think I'll post. But I'll be here watching everyone else and replying to the stuff that I love most.

Thank you all for your help! Wednesday the 12th is my next live portrait session and I feel far more prepared than I was before. I'm sure not all of these skills will translate to a live model but it'll be much better than my last attempt.

After Jules eating a tasty burger I was feeling confident enough to take on The Stare. It's my best painting yet but the expression isn't quite right, it's lacking intensity of the original and I'm not sure what I'm missing. Feedback?

I'm doing one more SLJ in this series, it's time for Mace Windu. That'll make 16 and then I'm in to paint some family members. Not sure I'll share them here, privacy and all. But this series has me confident enough to try, I've learned so so much! Thank you for all the feedback, critiques, and advice!

Hamburgers! The cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast!

Alright, what did I mess up? I can't see anything. I'm sure I did, help me see it.

Clearly I can, but can I get his expression right? I think this is the closest to the expression in the reference yet. Not quite right but I'm not sure what isn't right about it. I think it's in his lips but I've redone them a few times and am no closer. Feedback?

Also I love love love how his beard turned out. I saw a YouTube saying don't try to paint each individual hair and paint shapes that feel like hair, it was mind blowing to me.

And clearly you can tell which image got the most votes in the other post.

Edit: Also my workflow is getting much better. I spent less time on this than the first several I did with way better results. I'm able to see shapes and pick out colors I just couldn't even see before.

Thought I'd ask for a vote on which Nick Fury y'all think I should paint. I think I'm ready to try this iconic character. Vote on as many or few as you'd like, feel free to add your own for others to vote on. I'm planning to start painting Friday morning mountain time.

Twelve paintings in and I still hear his voice in my head. OHHH, you believe in Samuel L. Jackson now, huh, bitch? GOOD, 'CAUSE YOU 'BOUT TO MEET HIM!

I particularly enjoy the scarf. That was my favorite part to paint.
