What's going on here?

• Alond (the guy doing the packing) is the now-deposed king of the realm, having been kicked out of power by Singing Cricket and his friends.
  • After his defeat, the party gave him to Granny Dismal in exchange for the hags' help (and to compensate for stealing away/rescuing another of their servants).
  • Alond is not a willing guest of the hags, and has planned many schemes to escape, but they've all failed.
• Tamilda was a 12-year-old orphan who Singing Cricket's party rescued from goblins on their adventures. And because she was weirdly competent (incredibly lucky dice rolls), they brought her with them on more adventures than they probably should have.
  • When Tamilda first encountered Kayra, she was trying to kill her. It didn't quite work out as planned.
  • After having very little luck looking for female companionship, Tamilda has with some reluctance finally decided to try being friends with Kayra.
  • Now they're basically besties.
• Kayra is a young night hag, just learning her craft. She lives with Singing Cricket, a retried adventurer she calls her "husband".
  • Kayra was taken away from her parents as a toddler and replaced with a changeling.
  • That changeling is living its own life as Kayra.
• They're all heading into the city, where everyone's paths will probably converge

What's going on here?

• This is a page from Love and Hex, a comic about a retired adventurer dating a young night hag].
• Granny Dismal, the senior witch in the coven, has a Baba Yaga-style ambulatory house which has been misbehaving. She's been stuck with her sisters since the house laid an egg.
• Recently, the house egg hatched. Granny is disappointed with the result.
• In the current story arc, Singing Cricket is doing his best to protect the baby house, and keep it secret from Granny..
• The scheming servant is Alond Summercourt, a tiefling who had manipulated and murdered his way to the throne and abused nonhuman citizens until Singing Cricket and his party kicked him off the throne, restored the rightful heir, and sent him to live with the hags as punishment. He's been scheming to escape ever since.

Love and Hex grew from a D&D campaign joke into an ongoing rom-com/horror story. It's published more-or-less fortnightly on Webtoon, GlobalComix and other platforms. Also r/LoveAndHex.
