Techies in Europe – who obviously have a vested interest in unsettling Microsoft stronghold on the market as AWS, Microsoft, and Google have upwards of a 70 percent share of the public cloud sector in the region – previously highlighted the potential dangers of US legislation.

I've mentioned this before as a criticism for Canadian boycotts of the US. Every large Canadian website, even Government and News use US cloud services. Every. One.

Frank Karlitschek, CEO of Nextcloud, told us in March, "The Cloud Act grants US authorities access to cloud data hosted by US companies. It does not matter if that data is located in the US, Europe, or anywhere else."

How was this allowed to happen? The minute that law was passed all sites that use them should have discontinued their contracts. JFC.

The people that didn't vote against this shit are going to suffer for it.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago

The Democrats should never have to take positions or do things to make voters like them

Not when the only viable alternative is literal fascisim. At that point all the opposition party against fascism should have to do is not goose-step on camera, but apparently a whole lot of 'murican voters don't understand direct consequences of inaction.

By not voting no matter who you said "I am okay with what is happening now", and you were WARNED this would happen before you chose not to vote (or voted for the self-admitted spoiler) so all this bluster to shield yourself from reality isn't fooling anyone that understands a room gets dirty if you don't clean it.

Look at Canada. Almost 70% voter turnout and the results prevented not only a Trump boot-licker from getting into power but kicked him out of his own fucking riding. Did people vote less progressively than they'd have liked? Absolutely. FPTP is a flawed system, but that doesn't matter. What matters is Canada won't be Zeig-heiling for the next four years and we can still work towards fixing the system instead of worrying about brute-squads arresting innocent citizens and deporting them without due process for opposing the Government. That is the power of forethought and action instead of excuses and apathy.

YDI - There is an obvious disconnect between your "identity crisis" and argument which leads me to believe this is about the drama and not some passionate protection for the autistic community.

Also, multiple mods calmly explained their reasoning and you started screaming at them. Yeah, that gets a hard 'nope' from me.

Same thing happened in Windsor West.

NDP incumbent lost to the Conservative but the Liberals actually got more votes than the NDP did. NDP had 50% of their support stolen only for both of them to lose to blue. FFS

Also, wouldn't a minority Liberal government be risking a no-confidence vote for being so heavy handed?

Any chance he might self-reflect on this? I doubt it.

Conservatives lost so badly yesterday, that not only will he not be PM, he got voted out of his own seat.

Take notes 'murica. This is how it should have gone for you and PP isn't even a felon FFS.

If your doctor is confident enough to declare it a scam I'd go with the opinion of the trained certified medical professional whom you let do unspeakable things to all your orifices protected only by latex gloves instead of listening to anonymous idiots like me.

That said, if you insist on listening to me then you can do your own allergen test at home:

  • Wash (with soap and cloth) and sterilize (with iodine or isopropyl alcohol) your stomach and a sewing needle.
  • With the needle gently scratch a series of small bloodless paired nicks an inch apart.
  • On the left side leave clean for a negative comparison and on the right dab a miniscule amount of a single suspected allergen on each scratch. Maybe jot down which scratch has which substance so you don't forget.
  • Wait 20 minutes and compare the left to the right. Any on the right side significantly discoloured, swollen or blotchy compared with its respective left side negative are likely allergens and should be avoided.

Disclaimer: Not a doctor and not medical advice.

Edit: and FTR this is from a movie, but is so bad it has been parodied in TV. Supergirl did it and when a CW show makes fun of your dialogue you KNOW it's bad.

I'd be more inclined to believe you if you supported this opinion with some cherry-picked statistics. /s

Summary

London talks aimed at securing a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia have been downgraded and will no longer include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy Steve Witkoff.

The US state department blamed logistical reasons, but it was clear the decision was last-minute and left the Foreign Office wrongfooted.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has ruled out recognising occupied Crimea as Russian territory, after reports suggested this was being considered by the US and the Kremlin. "Ukraine does not legally recognise the occupation of Crimea. There's nothing to talk about," said Zelensky.

Ukraine's ministry of strategic industries said it was "naïve" to expect Ukraine to change its position on "non-negotiable" issues such as Crimea.

A Moscow court has found Google, owned by U.S. tech giant Alphabet, guilty of disclosing personal data of Russian servicemen killed in Ukraine, Russia’s state-run TASS news agency reported on April 21.

The ruling reportedly stems from a YouTube video that allegedly revealed both casualty figures and personal details of Russian soldiers killed during the full-scale invasion.

The court found Google guilty under Article 13.41(2) of Russia’s administrative code, which covers the "violation of procedures for restricting access to information that must be limited under Russian law." The company was fined 3.8 million rubles (approximately $45,000), according to the court ruling.

I cannot find a proper link to the relevant video. If anyone can find it please link it.

Russian forces during the so-called Easter ceasefire targeted a Ukrainian volunteer's vehicle with three (first person-view) FPV drones while he was evacuating civilians in Donetsk Oblast, Ukrainska Pravda reported on April 20.

Volunteer Yevhen Tkachov was evacuating civilians from the village of Zoria, located to the south of Kramatorsk, when they were targeted by the first drone some 50 meters from the Donetsk Highway...

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has kept the interest rate on hold at 15.5% after raising the key policy rate three times since the beginning of 2025, it announced on April 17.

This move will help maintain the sustainability of the forex market, keep inflation expectations under control, and gradually reduce inflation to the 5% target over the policy horizon, the NBU said.
