It’s scary that the Unity debacle is not just happening in games but a very real threat not just in digital and app space but in real life.

It can happen in medicine, housing, even the food we eat if the trend of subscriptions and lock ins continue.

Despite this, a global concerted effort towards Open Source tech is still not happening.

In Unity for example, there is a push to transition to Unreal but less so for Godot. We see this happening with reddit too. And soon maybe we’ll see it in real life. What’s stopping our hotels and landlords from charging us everytime we open doors.

We see this in the rampant mandatory tips. Where everyone is automatically charged per order.

It’s scary and frustrating at the same time that there may not be a clear remedy for this. As the world shifts to subscriptions and services, do we truly own anything anymore?

They’re obviously in their adult years in the pic I posted.

Because libre office is not compatible with many others. You can open it sure but there’s no guarantee that opening .doc or .docx will have broken formatting. Not good for those in the academia or workplace where formatting are strictly enforce.

Same. @squizzy, I don't like microblogging in general either. I was raised in the golden era of forums (the days of phpBB and vBulletin). My twitter account hasn't been touched for years now.

tweXit does have a nice ring to it. Made me laugh 😂

Was tinkering with userchrome and sidebery this day and it got me thinking how others has their firefox customized. Let's bring the fun back to firefox. Share your screenshots. :)

So far, I tried Tabliss, Momentum and currently toying with Taskade. But the "unmodded" one is nice, too as it's faster. I'm wondering if anyone here has some opinions.

An old one. But this never fails to make my day whenever it pops up on my news feed. Russian officials deride Zelensky for being a comedian. But so many of them act like children in front of cameras. Tsk tsk.

It's not just lemmy that's benefiting from Elon Musk.

As an iOS user and long time Firefox user (never switched to chrome in my life) I feel jealous. But one can only hope that we too in the APPLE walled garden won't be left behind. Though I understand that it would be a long shot. :(
