I guarantee those execs think they will be building Star Trek / Federation level society. But the comment above is right, it will be Cyberpunk just with shittier technologies driven by “the invisible hand of the market” or some other drivel.

The first time a ceo or politician gets assassinated by drone-strike will cause some severe lockdown on those things.

No matter what country it happens in.

I agree.

Amazon is difficult to find what you want if you are searching for a specific brand or item. It shows you many options.

To me it seems like Amazon wants to sell you something as long as the make a sale. Whether it is what you actually wanted is a distant second.

I think it is exactly this simple: money.

The entire congress can be bought either outright or with the threat of a primary challenger that is extremely well funded. That will get whoever the ultra-rich wants in line.

We are entirely screwed. I hope I’m wrong though.

Woot! Thank you!

Would you be willing to post a blueprint string or link to it?

Gleba has been causing me no end of issues.

Totally agree, the TSA is more security theater than anything else. Time and again it has been demonstrated that they can be circumvented (sneaking guns or weapons past checkpoints.)

As the above said reinforce cockpit doors and also repurpose the TSA positions into Air Marshalls, which would help avert any in-flight problems more than on the ground checks. Make it a requirement for airlines to help subsidize the cost (oh gosh! Not regulation!)

Y’all may not remember pre-9/11 flights and (very) likely don’t recall airline regulations, where prices were fixed and airlines had to compete via other means (better food, perks, etc.) Heck, I barely remember airline regulation days and have to rely on my retired flight attendant aunt.

Not perfect but better than the creeping surveillance state effort going on.

I’m not Norwegian or in Norway and I’m definitely doing this - my kids know of the problems of social networking (including the latest TikTok court docs and what the execs say.)

Some friends say that’s over the top; I just say it is responsible, involved parenting. I value their mental health.

I get it, the gop/maga will try to cheat and steal their way to a victory. They have already laid the legal framework and put sycophants in key positions in battleground states. The only way we can respond is to make sure the victory is undeniable in favor of Harris.

Now, if you are in one of those battleground states, you can be an election worker, including a vote counter to help maintain normalcy and call out problems to the media immediately.

Honestly, I don’t know (having not been more involved in the past with the election process) what else we can do. Sorry.

Is there a lemmy version of r/votedem? There is a large linked spreadsheet with volunteer opportunities (phonebank, textbank, postcards, data entry, etc.) - especially needed in the (unfortunately) few critical states that can tip the balance one way or the other.

Thanks!

I bet the no-profit law really wrankles the school owners.

I wish that kind of sensibility would happen in America - but honestly I don’t see it happening anytime soon.
