Nothing I've done seems to work for this one, either it needs to run the configuration tool or it tells me the files are corrupt and needs a reinstall afterwards. Trying the reg trick didn't seem to do much and running new config tools just won't open at all.

Ported from the r/roms Megathread. This wasn't on Lemmy so here it is.

Go here for Roms

Follow the either of the links below.

Github https://r-roms.github.io/ This is the primary megathread.

Gitlab link https://r-roms.gitlab.io/ This is the backup megathread, it'll be updated alongside the github megathread.

The megathread contains 7 tabs:

  • The landing tab is the Home tab, it explains how to use the megathread and has some helpful tips.

  • The Popular games tab lists direct links to popular games, this list has been made mostly by SuperBio, and as such may not represent what you think a popular game is. If you feel something is missing there PM SuperBio and he'll have it added.

  • The next 5 tabs link directly to collections based on console and publisher, they include Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Sega, and the PC.

  • The last tab is the other tab, this is where you can find Retro games, defined by No-Intro and others as pre Gamecube and PS2 era. This tab exists to link to the large collections that No-Intro and various other groups have collected.

/r/ROMS Official Matrix server Link

  • Go here if you need additional help with anything ROM or emulation related.

Changelog:

Ported Megathread over to Lemmy.

Moved the megathread to gitlab due to account issues on github, update your bookmarks accordingly.

Restored the megathread on github, left the gitlab megathread link as a backup, both will be updated.

Not going to be able to mod as much nowadays, and the two Switch communities need it the most

If anyone wants to take over then I can transfer communities and go from there. Switch pages are risky enough that I consider taking the pages down as a precaution, but I have to hear from any active mods first and see what everyone else thinks if no one else takes over.

Consider this an extra mod searching post, so if anyone just wants to take up the role as an extra moderator then lemme know.

I'm looking for moderators who have an understanding of the rules and is active enough to properly moderate as needed. Having some experience isn't mandatory but will help a good deal. Transferred over now.

Approved. Some are more active than others so no worries.

Approved. SuperBio's the main admin for this one so make sure to check in with them as well.

I got a giant ass list so I don't even remember off hand haha. Eyeballing either Armored Core or Baldurs Gate but space is a bit too limited to snag either currently so that would have to be a "some other time" deal.

Those are tricky but I'd say those could be fine, as long as its on whichever system is relevant, so a Dreamcast/Switch/PS4/Neo Geo game, the DC and Neo Geo would be permitted but obviously Switch and PS4 less so, sorta like NextGenRoms though they might be on the loose side.

Approved!

For the purposes of "Retro", I'd say anything pre 7th gen works as a decent baseline, so PS2 or prior. We probably could put up a poll to see if 7th gen would be fine since I'm on the fence about that, but for now 6th gen or prior is generally the baseline to work with, might have to adjust the description for that as well.

That's really good to know.

Since I won't be active given events coming up soon, post below if anyone wants to take up moderation. Ideally I'd prefer if you mention any experience you have and why you'd want to do that,

Ideally I'd prefer if you mention any experience you have and why you'd want to do that, This is true for all the groups I run and with Lemmys limitation I might have to post it on those, but this group needs it the most so I'm starting here.

This is the brand new GBC game done for a McDonalds celebration this year, tested and works good in standalone emulators.

GBATemp Thread for more on this.

Just from what I currently got? For games, between a good few full romsets + curated larger sets [so DS, Xbox, etc], a good 600+ downloaded and GBEmued Steam games, a GOG set among others, I am just about set there. For things like Movies and Shows its a little trickier, but I"m pretty picky with those anyway.
