Thanks for making these posts!

Just to add more info on those images you found for Dolphin. The original art without the text is from this artist https://www.artstation.com/pierreroussel/albums/8482338. I love them.

Awesome read. I bought the game few weeks ago and the tutorial was a huge letdown. I'm glad I took time and played the game instead of trying to understand the tutorial which made the game look so complicated and confusing. I hope they remake it someday and summarize it instead of overexplaining.

Been playing for ten hours now and hoping to win with each deck. So much fun!

Quick version:

  • Install latest Java
  • Install latest Minecraft Java server
  • Play vanilla Minecraft

Rabbit hole:

  • Bedrock / Java version differences
  • Modpacks, mods and Minecraft version differences (1.12, 1.20) require different Java versions.
  • Official server vs 3rd party software (papermc, purpur...)
  • Publicly open server vs firewalled

I started Yakuza 0 on my PC and Excavation of Hob's Barrow on my deck.

Yakuza side missions are fun but the combat feels too repetitive. Maybe it gets better once you unlock more skills but I doubt it.

I'm curious what 'surprising' games people have played last year on their Deck.

Most likely the most played games matches the top 10 list from Steam but I'd like to hear also about those lesser known games that you enjoyed, got working (give hints for the rest of us) or just would like to recommend to us.

100% not judging anyone who prefers mobas or MMOs. I just feel that as a patient gamer (with a huge backlog) I can't no more try or play another one.

The time sink alone and psychological methods like daily missions/battlepasses/FOMOs they use to make me get hooked just now days make me want to skip all of those kind of games even when I'm really into the game/idea.

I can experience 10 single player games (that I already have) instead of one GaaS game. I'm happier this way.

I've done exactly as you said. I'm doing them one in every two years and I'm having fun. I don't think I've ever paid more than 5 euros for one game. They are the kind of low effort easy fun but that's exactly what I want. I have my hard games and series for when I want that type of experience

Why not both and add a few more. Make the game randomize which attire the duck has from a limited pool of costumes and force a change maybe as often as after every save/load/level.

Totally unnecessary but silly feature. If there is any mention of the duck in the environment/narration you can add jokes about ducks being indecisive.

I'm so partial to buying the game but my backlog says no. Enjoy your cat ninja trip! I'll follow you in few years :)

I have never played Destiny 2 and wanted to try it out one month ago. I asked on Reddit what to do as a free-to-play player to get a good insight of what the game has to offer.

The gatekeeping was unreal. They said unless I'm willing to dedicate hundreds of hours I should not even try and rather uninstall the game immediately. For sure they made it feel that new players are not welcome.

Playerbase toxicity was a harsh reality. The game story, even in the broadest sense, was hard to grasp. The new player experience in-game was miserable. I have no idea what their money making plan is. Live service games need new players to stay healthy.

Wait what? Slay the Spire was on your list? Care to elaborate on that a little bit more?

All my Slay the Spire runs start with the exact same starter deck and I do not have extra health, damage, or other bonuses from my prior runs. I don't get your point.

FTL? What the heck. If I beat the flagship I don't get any bonuses for beating it for my next run.

I don't know if we understand 'roguelite where we get permanent bonuses for next round' in the same way. In Hades and Rogue Legacy your run will most likely be more stronger than your last run because of permanent upgrades. In FTL, Slay the Spire or Into the Breach you don't get those - you just expand the available starting gear / setups.

After Brotato addiction I found this gem of a game, right before the sequel announcement it seems. It's such a perfect game for the Deck at least for me - you have time to think, the controls just work and you can just put the game down and continue your run later.

Do yourself a favor and try it out even though your first runs will probably be a disaster. The core game mechanic is so tight and well done it's a pleasure to play loop after loop. 50 hours later I still want to do 'one more run'.

I have an old iPad on my removedhtstand and I paid for Narwhal. I have no idea why I can still use it like the 'old times' but I'm grateful that I can still browse Reddit.

It's a husk of the former site I loved but the niche communities I care are still there. I wish for and 2nd and 3rd, 4th etc dramas on Reddit to get people here but sadly it's a numbers matter game.

Last project took me almost a year. This took less than three hours spread on four days. I like the eyes.

Made a lot of mistakes such as magnetizing all arms and choosing a bone white colour scheme for the weapons which shows tiny errors immeadiately. All in all I like how they look from far away. Just don't pick up any for inspection.
