In this scenario, you still would not have. Theropods are proto-birds.

Herbivores make horrible pets, centuries of being eaten does not lend them to trusting giant monkies.
Predators though, know that teamwork to accomplish goals works...and can give us a chance.
That sure solved all the problems with cars and automobile related deaths.
Balrogs most likely didn't have wings either, but at least complement the beauty of the artwork (which is stunningly gorgeous) instead of only pointing out nitpicks.
