I deleted my Facebook account once, then went back. All my stuff was still there. You can try all you want, they have it, and your data is more valuable to them than regulatory compliance can ever touch. Your data is out there, and it will never be deleted.

The only way damage you could possibly do would be to download your own copy of your profile data. Then (and this would only work en masse), place it under something like a creative commons license. This might seem counterintuitive, but facebook is selling your data. This way, they lose the profit of selling it in addition to any advantage they would have from hosting it.

The worst was on stumbleupon when I would click "stumble" twice and see the most interesting page ever just to have it replaced with the next stumble. Then if you try to go back, it stumbles again... truly gone forever.

In 1850 it took 35 days to cross the country by rail and they were 11 years away from civil war.

In 2023 it took 3.5 days to cross the country by rail, and we were 1.1 years away from civil war.

Talk to and listen to people around you. Don't just try to change their minds without first seeing (and convincing them that you see) their point of view. As senseless as this situation seems, people do have their reasons. It's only when we understand what drives each other that we have a basis for cooperation.

He actually said this on camera, that he wouldn't be driving it. But then, he said that he hadn't driven in a "long time"...

I don't think he has a driver's license.

Yeah just like thousands of civil servants are "embarrased" of losing their jobs. Just like judges are "embarrased" that the executive branch is ignoring their rulings. Just like millions of Ukrainians are "embarrased" of losing their home. Get over your fucking self... we are at war.

What does the pluribus once the unum proves deaf?

Fun fact, facebook was originally only for college students, requiring an email address that ended in ".edu"...

Then our parents showed up on facebook, and we noped out. Then facebook sold all of our parents' facebook data to Donald Trump. Then Donald Trump parroted our parents' facebook data back at them through Twitter. Then our parents' thought, "Hey he really gets us"....

We should not have noped out.
