Oh my goodness yes! Not to mention the whole if you don’t dress “modestly” it’s your fault if you get unwanted attention thing. It’s a grooming ground.

It does sound like something out of Good Omens.

I had a similar experience. I have a very demanding pushy cat who doesn’t like other cats because he sees them as attention competition. We got another cat 2 months younger kept him separated for two weeks and then slowly started having supervised visitation. He hissed and growled outside the door at first and then later a bit to his face. But by the end of the month they could be left alone together. This is them, about a month and a half after Ozzie came home with us.

Yeah, I started the first episode got 5mins in and the animation made me quit. I came back later, when I was feeling more open minded. I enjoyed the story, still not sure about that animation but I will watch it.

CAPTCHA was never about keeping bots or AI out. It was always about tracking people. That’s why you get more of the “select correct images” CAPTCHAs the more you hide who you are online. It’s not that they are trying to figure out if you are a bot, it that they are trying to figure out who you are period. Interactions with a site exchange information the more interactions the more information they get. Also they can’t make a profit selling your information, they might as well use your free labor to train their AI.

That last one fits most of Brandon Sanderson’s magic systems.

It’s probably reduced brain function from COVID. I think that is affecting things more than people realize. Or everyone just got more greedy during that time.

Now I know I am relatively young (just making the cut off to be considered a Millennial). But my parents were very against allowing kids access to the internet but not ani-technology. As a result I was using a 1996 Toshiba satellite when I was 4yr for Scholastic Reader Rabbit preschool games, but didn’t have regular internet access until I was 15. So I am familiar with the eccentricities of Windows 95, this did help me at work once when we had to use some legacy software from the 90’s that would only run on Win 98. But anyway I only recently have started using Linux in Docker containers for testing environments.

No kidding, I like to think I am pretty tolerant of spice for someone whose parents can’t handle too much pepper. Like I make my own butter chicken with two Serrano peppers. But most Thai places I get level 1 spicy and eat slowly or I can’t taste anything but fire.
