Ah but you see, success is clearly a zero sum game. Even if the company is worse off than otherwise, if they fuck over their employees more than they’re fucking themselves over, it’s still a win.

Conventional economic theory holds that a small, consistent level of inflation is the most beneficial. In short, you don’t want hoarding cash to be a smart long term economic decision, you want more of that money invested/moving in the economy. I recommend reading about the Japanese deflation in the 90s if you’re curious what the effects of even relatively moderate deflation can be.

It is not incorrect to say the economy was doing well, nor is it wrong to say individual purchasing power was not following. “The economy” is not, nor has it ever been, tied to wages. This is a problem, Trump is the opposite of a solution. It’s the equivalent of seeing a bank robbery and nuking the bank.

Does the last panel of the child shaking in fear of their parent really give off “this is a humorous comic” vibe?

Stardew allows people to achieve their dreams that are unrealistic in the real world, like -

Home ownership

Finding friends and community in a new place

Finding love

Evicting their local walmart and replacing it with a cinema

Escaping the fresh hell of late stage capitalism (or becoming the very worst proponent of it, sometimes somehow both)

I would sub in like maybe Darkest Dungeon 2 over Frostpunk? Less well received but still better than any of the other three. Both were distinct changes of pace, darkest dungeon just sold its soul to the epic games store and lost the bond you formed with characters over a long campaign in exchange for the roguelite shorter runs.

I don’t think you get to play the “well you started ww2 card” when you’re trying your damndest to start ww3 lmao

I would think AI art would be perfect for the use case of “here is the general gist of what I want, now turn it into something usable”. I can also imagine basically nobody actually using it that way correctly though lol.

Nuremberg Trials (en.wikipedia.org)

One of the most interesting details about the Nuremberg trials, which I only learned from the ever excellent Robert Evans on a podcast, is the controversy over how many of the crimes Nazis were executed weren’t really “crimes” - international law wasn’t really a thing, and they weren’t really illegal under German law.

Yet we hung the Nazis anyways, because they were the fuckin’ Nazis. I find this a comforting thought in these times.

If you’re in need of additional fortification, the article on John Clarence Woods might help, the hangman who very incompetently and thus painfully executed nazi leadership - there is also a Behind the Bastards on him, possibly the one that discusses the trials iirc.
