While most have examples in their readme's on Docker hub and Github, not all of them do, so I sometimes have to hunt down an example buried in their git repo somewhere. So a searchable page for popular self-hosted app docker compose files would be welcome.

The easiest is probably a motion/presence sensor. When there is no movement, turn off the lights. When there is movement, turn the lights on, if it's dark.

ELement from google play always use the google push notiofication system, which is always running. But element from say f-droid, does not have access to that, so it needs another push daemon to work, like ntfy.

Yeah, sounds like you need to configure the base-url of ntfy.
