Dang, I didn't know shoulder chips could get that big!

Now that I've caught up to Medalist I've just been reading more of Fullmetal Alchemist. I doubt most people here need to be told how great it is, so I'll share something neat I discovered instead. You know that rap Colonel Mustang does in the DVD extras? You know, this one? I always assumed it was something they just made for the DVD but when I got to volume 12 some awfully familiar text was printed on the back! Here it is for anyone who can read Japanese:
One of the more memorable ones recently was last season going from watching Medalist, a sweet and wholesome show about a figure skater, to The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really Really, REALLY Love You which is probably the horniest show I've ever seen.
Right now I'm going back and forth between Yakitate!! Japan, a very goofy and happy-go-lucky show about a young baker, and Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam which is mainly watching people die in space and elsewhere. I think they each make for a good break from the other.
I would argue that it's because the entire concept doesn't revolve around it. One-Punch Man works because Saitama's challenges are with depression and ennui, not physical monsters.
I don't understand why there are so many of these. Surely even the people who like them can't watch that many. Also, I don't understand why Japanese light novels are almost always so low-quality. I realize a lot of them are amateur works but you'd think there would be more than just a few that stand out as good.
Crazy that Gundam GQuuuuuux, which has been great so far, didn't make the list.
This week I finally got caught up to Medalist. Wow! This one really deserves the awards it's received. I know I've said this before, but even if you have no interest in figure skating this is well worth the read. At first it's just enjoyable to watch Inori and her coach, Tsukasa, play off each other. Very soon it becomes fun to watch Inori interact with the other skaters and then eventually Tsukasa spends more time interacting with the other coaches and that was a blast too! The characters are great, the art is great, the tournaments are exciting. What more is there to ask for?
I've also made a bit of progress on Fullmetal Alchemist. Most people are already familiar with at least FMA: Brotherhood so I won't say much here other than "it's pretty good too".
This really is just monkey's paw: the anime. Nico may know exactly how that paw will curl, but that sure doesn't give her the wisdom to care!
That sure was a way to start an episode of anime.
My guess is it's because the doofus who wrote the article didn't do basic research.
It's frankly embarrassing that Yakitate!! Japan isn't on the list.
Well-deserved; this is one of my favorite movies ever.
