I've made this the top picture, I hope you don't mind. If you do let me know and I'll take it down.

I don't believe they will stick with the ActivityPub outside of their initial start up period for Threads. While they are federating though it will be a fantastic opportunity to introduce users to Lemmy from Threads. If the Lemmy integration in Threads is anything like Mastodon's then I think it's more then worthwhile given that Lemmy is offering something Threads isn't currently covering.

However I think the onus should be on Meta to Federate respectfully, if they aren't willing to federate without contracts getting involved then I think that's completely against the spirt of the Fediverse and Meta shouldn't be allowed to operate in that capacity.

Do you need to get a ticket in advance or can you just show up? (Also I think you may have double posted, I've removed the other post. If you wanted that other post instead let me know and I will restore it)

I found a site called Feedfry that can create RSS feeds for sites that don't have them.

That melting pot of different experiences is what I'm hoping to create with this community, so far I think it's coming along nicely.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Fantastic site, took a little effort to get it working as a RSS link but it's the exact type of thing I wanted. Thank You.

I looked up his London 2021 Manifesto in it he mentioned "I promise even more world- leading action on tackling air pollution. The central London ULEZ I introduced in 2019 in the face of Tory opposition has seen toxic emissions slashed by over 40%. But I want more Londoners to benefit from cleaner air, so I’ll expand the ULEZ in October 2021."

I been using Libreddit as a webapp and will continue to use it until I can't, I made the switch about 3 months ago and for a site like Reddit that's all that needed.

Certainly, there is Premier League community here. Looks like there are communities for teams pooping up in the feddit.uk instance also.

I run a nice London community at the feddit.uk instance, while it's not front page material I highly suggest just finding communities that fill your niche and subscribing to those. The Reddit stuff will die down when this place starts to establish it's own identity but for now lets now start from bottom and work our way up to a unique community then just being Reddit for those who don't like Reddit.

London is home to hundreds of fish and chip shops, some better than others. But one, in particular, has been crowned London's best by TripAdvisor yet again.

Sitting at the very top of the site's ranking is The Golden Chippy. The Greenwich spot was opened in 2005, after Chris Kanizi arrived in London in 1977 to study medicine. He ended up an expert 'fish surgeon' instead, and since its opening, The Golden Chippy has become a local favourite.

Its reputation only grew after it was named London's best restaurant on TripAdvisor in 2016, beating the likes of Claridge's and The Ritz.

Summer has landed in the UK, kicking off with a heatwave which has seen temperatures soar – and left many of us wanting to get outside and embrace the warmer weather.

Of course summer is also a good time to go and catch a movie, as it’s traditionally blockbuster season – but heading to the flicks may not be your best bet if you’re hoping for some sun and fresh air.

Unless, that is, you opt for an outdoor cinema – and with a bunch of open-air screens once again popping up in the capital this summer, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Whether you want to catch a classic or check out something more recent, here’s our pick of London’s best outdoor cinemas for this year – and what you can expect from them…

Sorry for the off-topic chat but am I doing this all OK? It's hard to know how involved I need to be when starting a new community. I'm typically more of a lurker so I'm slightly paranoid that I may be doing too much in getting this community off the ground.

Archaeologists have discovered that the huge Roman mosaics discovered near the Shard last year, were actually part of a Roman tomb.

This rare piece of history was discovered just a stone’s throw from Borough Market and London Bridge station, said the Museum of London Archeology (MOLA).

The remains of the structure at the Liberty of Southwark site have an ‘astonishing level of preservation’, making it the most intact Roman mausoleum ever to be discovered in Britain, according to MOLA.

Thunderstorms have brought torrential downpours and flooding to parts of the UK on Monday.

Cars could be seen ploughing through deep puddles after flash flooding in north-west London.

Meanwhile, Manchester City's victory parade celebrating their Treble win was delayed by 30 minutes due to lightning.

Official weather warnings have now passed for Monday, but two storm warnings are in place for Northern Ireland and Scotland on Tuesday.

The yellow warnings, which mean storms may bring some disruption, will cover much of Northern Ireland, and a western area of Scotland from 12:00 BST to 21:00.

Do you have any recommendations for parks, preferably one with lots of shade?

I have no idea what I'm doing so bear with me as I get my bearings.

Rules and other welcoming info can be found here, and comment below if you have any ideas for and additional rules and info you like to see as well as suggestions for the community as a whole.

Thank you for checking us out!

I can't say I'm a fan of it, I think it's cop out rather then a true attempt to improve public transport around the Greater London area, but at least it's something (unless it gets cancelled or only partially completed which is always something you shouldn't count out with TFL)? Will you see yourself using it? What's your thoughts?
