It would probably end up sounding the same or similar because it would be years worth of clubs and live music and band practise and listening to music in my earphones too loud all jumbled up together and playing at the same time.

Yeah I guess there's two different categories of sci-fi in this regard. Personally, I think stuff that's as far ahead in the future as Star Trek is pretty close to fantasy. But then there's also the Philip K. Dick style near future dystopian sci-fi that serves more as a warning about the future we're headed to (or instruction manual if you're a techbro CEO).

Fantasy is probably the same actually. I usually think happy thoughts if I think about fantasy as a genre but then there's also stuff like Game of Thrones.

I say take as long as you need with these. If you're anything like me, if your heart and creativity isn't in it 100% and especially if it starts feeling like an obligation or chore, then you wouldn't be happy with your work anyway.

That said, your writing and presentation and whatnot is awesome. You have a skill of pulling the reader in from the start and wanting to know more. If you don't do writing related work, you should.

Also, I very much get the impression that this is just scratching the surface with this woman. Sounds like someone definitely worth doing more reading up on. Her fate at the end there makes me feel like stocking up on Molotov cocktails.

I honestly liked Gen V more, personally. The Boys has kinda ended up in a position where it's constantly trying to one up itself and do more and more outrageous things. Gen V had the gore and edge but doesn't necessarily revolve around it. And it's nice to watch a show where the people you're supposed to be rooting for are actually likeable.

Don't get me wrong, The Boys has been a wild ride, but at this point I'll be glad to see a final season.

For me as a 39yo I feel like this one never really explaining. I'm pretty sure both cooked and cooking have been used in this way before. And I actually like it, I feel like they both express the thing pretty well.

Winter. I also like the Autumn that I've read about, seen pictures of and seen people talk about. But we don't get much of a noticeable Autumn or Spring where I'm from. A few leaves on a few trees here and there will start changing colours but that's about it.

So Winter. Because you can wear your cool shit, you can do things without sweat and I prefer being snug and cosy under a duvet or two to lying naked under a fan and still not escaping the heat.

This "Autumn" that people speak of sure seems lovely though. Like the perfect season if it really existed here.

Thanks, you're also one of the people I enjoy seeing around here.

I think it is probably partially feelings of "they hate me now" but also self hate. The one who can't stand having me around the most sometimes is me. And being emo and shit isn't exactly a likeable trait either lol.

As I said, I'm in two minds though. Maybe I wake up in the morning feeling better or maybe I wake up and delete this app, at least until I've got my shit together.

Thanks for listening and responding, you're honestly too kind.

Probably posting this right as this thread is about to get removed but doesn't matter, just need a place to park this comment. And I think it's mental health related.

Kinda thinking of stepping away from this place until there's more of a crowd to disappear to. A lot of people talk about how it's nice to see familiar faces around and I definitely agree. But also, I feel a little exposed and stupid in a smaller crowd way too often as well. And that's not the crowd, that's a me problem.

But I wish it were a little bigger and a little busier here. I felt stupid and did less cringing at dumb shitposts when I was just another comment out of a couple hundred. One on one conversations felt easier when that conversation was just a thread in a busy post and not 90% of the post. And on a bigger and busier platform you can go through your highs and lows without feeling like you need to fake your own death and start over after a bad day.

So I'm in two minds about all of this right now. I do get a lot of joy from this place and a lot of people here. But small towns have their draw backs too.

It was suggested that I post this idea to the community proper. So I'm just copying and pasting the comment that I made, edited to make it clear which post I'm referencing (which is the next most recent post here anyway). I hope I got the link right in order to work with all of this federation mumbo jumbo.

I’m too new to be making these kinds of suggestions and I’m far from the moderator type myself but multiple times throughout this week, I’ve been thinking that it would be pretty cool if there was an AskBlåhaj. Or even just general Ask Lemmy based here, that could be asking for unwanted attention from shitty people on other instances though.

Not even 24 hours after seeing this post, I’ve seen someone else getting the snark and a non answer for a simple question. And also a Blåhaj user.

As much of a public bathroom as it could be, AskReddit was pretty fun for ‘silly’ questions and general chatting. And a nice place for new users to hang around and gain karma and confidence. But with the gatekeeper neckbeardy types around, maybe what it needs on Lemmy is to be in an instance with rules that promote friendliness and good vibes.

Just an idea to throw out there anyway.

I hope this isn't a question that's already been asked to death, in app search for "mbin" isn't all that helpful.

I'm still in the stages of looking for a permanent home here in the fediverse. So far mbin has really caught my eye because it's basically Lemmy+ for all intents and purposes (at least for mine). I'm not all that happy with what looks like the only Android app though.

So I was wondering if there were any plans to add mbin functionality to any existing Lemmy apps? Even if I used a Lemmy app solely for the 'Threads' or Lemmy section of mbin, then used the web page or only mbin app for everything else, I would be fine with that.

I tried to see if I could sign in with the app that I'm currently using (Eternity), with the kbin.earth instance and no luck. So obviously the API is just that much different.

Are any devs here thinking of expanding their apps in future? Or is there one I've missed? I've seen more than one app with the description "For Lemmy and the Fediverse", but what exactly is meant by "and the Fediverse" is unclear.

First the bugs:

  • Trying to edit the top tabs such as rename or rearrange seems to do absolutely nothing, although the changes that you make in settings seem to stick.

  • Changing the default server for the 'Anonymous' account also seems to do nothing. Once again, the setting does stick though.

Observations / suggestion:

I notice that there is a placeholder for 'multicommunities'. And I think I came across one or two other things that are placeholders / leftovers from Infinity. So it's all good, everything from app to the platform itself is WiP.

My suggestion is that for now, while we can't create or add multicommunities and have a bit of variety in our feeds, what about being able to add the local feeds of other instances? So that regardless of which instance I'm signed up in, I can have my Subscribed, Local, All tabs, as well as for eg. a 'World' tab, 'Blåhaj' tab etc. Is this something even remotely possible? Don't think I've seen other apps with this idea either.
