I'm counting game installations. Then there's the fact that NoScript seems to reset every time I swap operating systems, so now I have to figure out what I've allowed and blocked before...

Then there's the pruning of random shit that was auto installed. Some of that shit can take days to find.

But most of the pain is when I try to do X, and need to find a program that will do it. This happens in Windows and Linux, and either will have programs that work, but then I have to find the program and learn it, and then let enough time pass where I have to do it all over again.

The most recent example was a map making program for my Table Top RPG obsession. One program that's a go-to under Windows (with possible Linux capability?) is called AutoRealm. Which hasn't updated since 2013... But it's still one of the most powerful fractal mapping programs I've ever lightly used.

I've swapped back and forth between Linux and Windows a half dozen times now, and I can honestly say, both are a bitch to set up from a clean install.

Even with guides and autoloading scripts and whatnot, it's still going to be a few days of pain while you try to figure out what else needs to be installed to use the computer the way you want to use it.

Or that's how it works for me.

I mostly just wish more games were linux native.

I'm betting far more people want to see Trump strung up by his ankles, maybe he should bow to pressure there as well.

The actual story of the money changers is worse than most people know.

See, as part of their religious observance, the ancient Hebrews made a pilgrimage to the Temple. This was a mandatory part of their faith, much like the Hajj is for modern Muslims.

Those who were too poor to bring their own sacrifice could buy one at the Temple, but the Temple didn't take the coin of the realm (the Roman coins), they only accepted Shekels.

So, the Money Changers. They set up in the Temple itself and were fleecing pilgrims of all their money.

In comes Jesus, who flipped tables and broke out the whip, and less than a week later he was crucified.

And this is the only part of the bible that I believe is 100% historically accurate. A peace loving Rabbi threw a fit over the Money Changers and was crucified for it.

Smoking is interesting. Most of the direct harm from smoking comes from the radioactive lead and polonium that the tobacco absorbs from the soil.

Not that other parts of inhaling burning hot smoke aren't damaging, but the worst of it are those radioisotopes.

I don't know how much of that shit is deposited vs exhaled, and would need to see studies on it. But there's a laundry list of other harmful shit in cigarette smoke.

Yes, imagine if the coup attempt was real.

As a hint. It wasn't. Especially not the helicopter ride. That part was so staged it's comical.

Except that the coup was very real. Turned a democracy into a dictatorship with one scripted helicopter ride.

Vance the couch fucker.

There was a claim that, in the first draft of his book, Vance recounted a teenage sexual encounter with a couch. In great detail.

This claim came with an image of the text, which is easily found if you want that sort of thing.

The truthfulness of the claim has been questioned, but Vance just seems like the kind of guy who would fuck a couch.

Hamas was always a "tame" terrorist force.

Or put another way, the only reason why Hamas existed in the first place is because Israel picked them specifically to be the face of Palestinian resistance in Gaza, and constantly paid them millions to keep them in power, while at the same time, brutally crushed any other groups who might have pushed for Palestinian rights.

There were a bunch of news articles shortly after Oct 7th talking about how Netanyahu's "cash to Hamas" bribery for peace deal had blown up in his face, and no. It did not.

This has been the plan for decades. All Israel needed was an excuse and a somewhat friendly president who could ignore the US' previous policy of paying lip service to a two-state solution.

I don't know how it could be boring when the payoff to such a run is this song. Even so, that path is fucking dark.

I would love a storyline where Luther claims to be Ceaser, but is shown to be more akin to Nero.
