Whelp, you're not wrong, but the Holocaust pretty much built the Zionist dream. It was either Israel or Uganda that would've been colonized. Israel had the easier agenda to sell.

I stand corrected then. At least it wasn't mass murder like the Armenians. I think most of the refugees fled to Jordan from the territories.

Regrettably, I agree with your argument.

Israel's extreme and not-so-extreme right have been pushing settlement across the west bank and provoking, harming and terrorizing both the Israeli left/center and the IDF sent to guard them for years. They also murdered the Prime Minister that actually tried to consolidate the two states solution - Itzhak Rabin.

The blame of violence right now is very much a result of the right-winged government that is trying to turn Israel into a plutocratic republic at best, a theocratic nightmare a-la Iran at worst.

I sincerely hope that cool heads in the military will prevail, but with 1900 wounded, 300 civilians murdered and over a hundred kidnapped, Israel is currently reeling and it might end up with Gaza under martial law, and thousands dead and wounded on all sides.

It isn't the same as Russia and the Ukraine though, and as explained above with Itzhak Rabin being assassinated, it isn't that simple a proclamation regarding the 2 state solution.

It is the preferred outcome, and hopefully whatever horrors are inbound, it will lead there.

Religious fanatics aside,

1948 - war crimes were committed, on the territories of 1948 (Israel is bigger now). Hence the Palestinians call it the Nakba. They don't mark other wars like this one.

1956 - Kadesh operation. No relocations, no actual conquests, only warfare that was stopped by French and English intervention.

1967 - conquest of the west bank, driving out Jordanian sovereignty and full conquest of Jerusalem. East Jerusalem is, to this day, filled with Palestinians who are not citizens of Israel and are treated in what can be called apartheid, but no mass murder and intentional war crimes like 1948.

Your comparison to China and Russia is simply wrong... the Israeli economy is a laughable bug compared to the superpower of China, and the well organized dictatorship that is Russia (where natural resources are aplenty).

America could break Israel with a trade embargo in 3 weeks. It doesn't have to. The threat of it is enough. Whether or not Washington decides to do so is a different matter.

Israel ethnically cleansed during 1948 independence war, and not everywhere.

If Israel was genocidal, Palestine wouldn't be an issue.

I do agree that if the fanatic right wing leads the charge, Israel might lead a genocidal war. It just isn't plausible due to the entire world shutting down all trade relations and starving it.

That's why there were so many peace talks so far.

Israel. We are more socialist than the US ( public healthcare, unemployment support etc.) But we are definitely Capitalist and our minimum wage can barely cover utilities, health and food. Not going to talk about housing, because that shit is just globally fucked.

Quite frankly, when American self-criticism will die out - THAT'S when I l'll start worrying. Criticism is a healthy sign of freedom of speech and pluralism.
