YSK: If your instance updated to 0.18.1, there's new themes in your profile settings, including compact and pure black themes! (for the website version of lemmy, version number at bottom of page) in c/[email protected]

I had the same problem, but it worked after I closed all other Lemmy tabs in my browser.

Using lemmys image hosting is not good for server storage. OP doesn't want to use imgur for a different reason i'm unaware of
