oh, Ghost is cool :)
Not sure how much can use it, but indeed it feels like a great platform (maybe too much for some small posts :P)

I'm liking them! even if they do not seem very alive (still, blogging itself is not the most "alive" activity around nowadays...)

Hi,

I am looking for a good and lightweight blogging solution.

I imagine I can just go with a static site generator like jekyll but I'd like something else... it would be a plus if it can federate :)

Any ideas?

Thanks !

EDIT: I forgot to say that obviously wordpress does not enters in the "lightweight" category ;)

hi,

pretty much the subject... I am trying to choose my next laptop and I am tempted to buy a framework 13 AMD. I saw this post from one year ago : https://www.phoronix.com/review/framework-13-amd

and while the review is impressive, comments are not. how things have evolved since then? any experience?

EDIT: you convinced me, I just ordered mine. Thanks for the incredible answers !
NEW EDIT: I use arch (btw), and Gnome. For the answers, I do not think this will pose a problem but... what do you think?
(and yes, I ordered mine before reading last comment of paequ2 who doesn't like it... for reasonable reasons, maybe. I hope I will have more luck ;) )

Hi, I already asked this in a gnome community but I was unable to get an answer since the issue is more complex than it seems (and I really do not want to go to r*ddt, heh) :) I run arch with gnome in a tuxedo infinibook 14 gen 9 (intel) and since this is a recent model, there are things that does not seems to be working out of the box... specially when installing another distro than the ones they recomment (which are a no-go for me because of two main reasons: I want arch, I want gnome).

Anyway, here one of the problems: I cannot get the keyboard backligth control of gnome to work, the one that should show up in the gnome shell does not shows up. Even if I can control it by command line (or even with fn+space).

I know, this is not a huge issue but I want my desktop to work fine (I have other small problems I need to see, but I am stuck with this one :)

Any hint?

thanks!

EDIT: Is Infinibook pro 14 gen 9, heh

Hi,

I needed to change my machine to a new one (tuxedo gen9), and I quickly installed my distro of choice (manjaro-gnome), and configured it as the old machine (I am very conservative on this... I do not like the change as it introduces some friction in my workflow... I even have the same wallpaper from the last 10 years, heh :P).

Turns out, I am unable to "see" some options of the gnome-shell that were present in my older machine:

  • keyboard backlight regulation (and it works, as I am able to regulate it with fn+space)
  • background apps

I would like to bave them back... any hint on what I can be missing ?

It's a Smalltalk. I do not like to compare languages because each one has its own merits, but until now, I do not think there is an environment that matches what Smalltalk (and Pharo) provides (which is just understandable by using it, heh)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Ok, I admit I do not understand why it is returning an error (link is good, however)

Pharo is a pure object-oriented programming language and a powerful environment, focused on simplicity and immediate feedback (think IDE and OS rolled into one).

just that, I was wandering :)

So, I just dealt with a kobold thief and of course he escaped.
I read somewhere that to avoid thieves best thing is to "chain a tamed animal" to the entrance... only problem is I have no idea how to do that.
Any advice?
Thanks!

So... I just hit magma... bah... I looked for it! I dug like 150 levels until I got some warm, and now I realize I have no idea what to do with it.
Any advice on how to handle the thing?
Thanks!

I love Pharo :) All the power of a Smalltalk for the 21 century, a small but very nice community, decent library support (but not huge), and a good FFI interface when this is not enough.

Hi,

I'd like to explore the possibilities of training a LM to learn a specific programming language so he can be used as co-pilot in that context. Language is a niche language (http://pharo.org), and there is no existing model nowadays knowing it (also, I want to make some extra tweaks, once I have it).
Thing is... I have no idea where to start! :)

Any hint where can I learn the ropes?

Thanks!

Hi,

I am sorry for the stupid question, but I am having problems to find a mail I deleted and I wonder if the "delete" key will archive them as with gmail (and most clients nowadays) or it will actually remove it.
I am pretty new to thunderbird, I started to use it after supernova, so I am not very used to it.

Thanks in advance

not with mlem (or I did not find how) ;)

Oops… most people now ignores… I meant :)

This is what Smalltalk is all about, and it has been like that since it’s origin: you basically program in the debugger, you program running, you change something, you proceed the debugger, etc. That’s why technics like TDD, refactoring, and others were developed in Smalltalk and just later translated to other languages (and always lacking, since no one reproduces the live programming experience 100%). As the time passed, attention has moved to other languages and most people not ignores what it was to program like that. But there are still some implementations around: I work with Pharo (https://pharo.org), and I can to say is all what you ask for in this post :)

this is old, the official repositories (extra) has already been updated to 115 a couple of days ago.

I lost the search bar, any idea how can I get it back ? Thanks !

I do not think there is a consensus. Personally, I am not moving anytime soon. IMO so far gitea has not done anything wrong yet (they just put them in a position where is easier for them to do it, eventually). It is still a good thing forgejo exists... but I can't stand the name, heh (also, I like the green theme of gitea :P).

hi, I was looking for my subscriptions to see if some can be added and got super confused while looking at my communities. I think the way this list is presented can be enhanced:

I mean... a cloud is not a good way to show it and is very confusing. Just a regular list will do the job better IMO.
