We can agree to disagree for the tweets but I’m not sure that I agree on the part about throwing a good organization built on solid principles because of one person tbh. Yes he is not a random employee but on the foundation board there are also people like Tim Berners Lee…

Ye and if they owned servers they would need to pay electricity and internet connections to some capitalistic operators

If they had even solar panels they’d still buy them from capitalistic companies

If they even owned solar panel production they’d still buy materials from capitalistic mines

If they’d also buy the mines they’d now need some form of army to defend them or they’d need to pay some capitalistic mercenaries company

You understand that we have to start somewhere, right?

the second they don’t have enough donations to pay the bills the messenger will seize working

It’s a bit like worrying about donations to Wikipedia or the internet archive honestly. They are so big that probably a lot of people would stop them from failing.

The situation in the US makes pretty clear what fascism is and who Trump fans are

2 tweets in which he said that the republicans could help small tech are definitely not enough to be called either (fascist or Trump fan) imho

But it’s not a hill I’d die on. Still a foundation, still not easily sold to a random rich guy, still other members on the board and so on. Opinions are opinions but facts are here to stay and I can trust that organization still much more than others even if one person of the board went crazy. Organizations over single people ftw

Fascism is when selling his own business to a foundation to ensure that it is more immune to capitalism?

Nah, I’d say no. He said shit but happens to everyone.

Here is the full board btw https://proton.me/foundation

https://signal.org/blog/signal-foundation/

I never read “VC funded” as someone who donated money and also was a VC. To me it’s always Venture capitalists investments asking for power and margin returns. Hence also it makes the product much more prone to enshittify to keep the numbers go up

Signal is none of this but yes, got a headstart by someone who happens to be also ~~a VC~~ a rich person?

Edit: I edit because I cannot find anything that links Acton to vc activities actually 🤔

Simplex is vc funded and doesn’t have a business model so nobody knows if it will ever be sustainable, I won’t pass any of my chats to it until they figure out their stuff.

Tuta too is for profit even if not vc funded. So the risk of easily getting sold is always there and tbh I don’t like giving money to for profit vertical companies unless necessary.

Btw no company is anti compliance. They fight in court but in the end they will comply, they have to…

Thank you, really appreciated. I was starting to think I was imagining that almost no one read the article understanding it lol

If you classify Canadians defending their own lives and sovereignty

Bro you are posting on an online forum, you are just ranting and coping. If you wanna take a gun and shoot someone go and do it but don’t write it here

not sit there and take it as you suggest

Sure, I was suggesting exactly that. Not like I was asking you to not wish death on 340mln people

you are kinda criticizing the finger that points at the moon (and to be clear, i too disagree with some of the rethorical stuff of the article) but doesn't really make sense to discuss with this:

Gimme a break. What I feel is that I’ve spent enough time and effort on this

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (3 children)

If one of them proposed locking the populace into an eternal doomscroll to keep them from fighting capitalism

I didn't get to choose that preview, idk if it's a my bad thing or a lemmy thing

but still i didn't write that little sum up and it doesn't really represent the article

If the economy plummets, it would likely help to turn his base against Trump

I’m not that sure anymore :/

(I didn't downvote you, btw)

Oh np, didn’t even notice it because I hide downvotes on my main client

imho, you are too deep down into the path to fascism right now. Stock prices won't change the plan of becoming Russia 2.0. Don't need capial market value when you have de facto slaves, oligarch power and isolationist economy.

btw i was talking about "protest or rally or general strike" in general, not only US. In italy they have not much value anymore. Indefinite strikes (i mean "we strike until you give us what you want") and focussed strikes (as in one single company) are the ones that work. + all the little stuff that won't make headlines or virality on social media because ''person convinced their whole department that that thing was bad and they fixed it'' is not cool enough

On this server we are often victim of this stuff, i hope we can all improve

I think that often the confusion when talking about solarpunk happens because solarpunk as per now it's a term that includes different subset of its characteristics without being necessarily superimposable with each other

2 examples:

  • can have solarpunk aesthetic produced in a non solarpunk way
  • can have solarpunk movements not relying on the solarpunk aesthethic

I think this reasoning applies well to solarpunk. It’s true that ethical consumerism doesn’t scale etc but we have to resist the urge to give money to the people who will commodify solarpunk just for cheap merch and media.

For example: game full of bad messages but made by a workers coop and ethically distributed > game with solarpunk aesthethic made by limited liability company that took or wants to take VCs money and run in the capital race

Hi! Is there anything like hackingwithswift (preferably as 100 days of SwiftUI) but focused on elixir and phoenix?
