I bet you're right, but the fact that I never see it is a feature worth paying for, especially for a smooth-brain like myself.

It's a sad time when the onion cannot compete with actual real news.

The solution is to provide housing, and whatever else help they need.

but then people who struggled to own a home would throw a fit about it, without connecting the dots on how they too were screwed over. They should receive help too.

Tax the rich, and there will be more than plenty resources to do this.

Empathy is a skill.

I would prefer to run my ais locally, but my brain glazes over if I see github. I found a a program called "gpt4all", but it's very limited in what models it can run, and what I could get just wasn't as good for my use case as openai's 4o model. Also, being able to generate images in the same conversation as text work is a feature that I'm fairly certain no other ai model can do (yet).

I pick my battles.

If I took a hard stance of not engaging with any business that did things I morally object to, I'd be forced to be a self-sufficient hermit in the woods.

once again, i am at odds with lemmy's definition of "liberal".

it's easier if there's plausible deniability.

I say this as someone who frequently uses generative ai, and actively chooses to pay for the service.

Fuck openai.

This company has utterly failed to fulfill their mission statement, and they will be unable to make right by humanity until ALL software they have created is available to the public as FOSS (free and open source software). Openai claimed that this is exactly what they were going to do, and then they just didn't. So fuckem.

Aside from when it's trending (like right now), no you fucking don't.

I streamed, for a while. Nobody gave half a shit. Nobody cares about the "art" that I spent days drawing. Nobody cares about the stories that I voice-acted in my closet because I don't have a studio to do such things in. I'm poor, and I'm not good at making things. If you claim to care about my "art", I grantee that you're a liar.

I don't do art for you. I do this for me. I will use all available tools to realize my vision. I do not care for your approval.

eventually, imma have to actually look into lemmy front ends or clients. I stand by the statement that I shouldn't have to, but I'll prolly have a better time of things if I did.

quote the image:

"I've gathered my materials

"and planned every last detail.

"I have set time aside. So now all I need is...

"to start an entirely different project!"
