EDIT: Can anybody ask around reddit? They keep banning me.

Second Heart should have 300 - 200 seconds ( 5 - 3.3 minutes ) timeout. But for me it is 35 MINUTES, does anybody know why?

Tier 4:

Tier 5++:

Additional Info:

One of the images contains cooldown for Self-Ice. That one is actually seconds and work as it intended.

What I want:

To boot into a BTRFS snapshots from rEFind boot manager.

Additional Info:

  1. So, apparently, to restore the BTRFS snapshot of a root subvolume, I shouldn't do it with the root partition being actively used.
  1. So, I need to boot into the desired snapshot from the boot manager itself.
  1. GRUB has grub-btrfs, which lets you boot into snapshot from OS selection screen itself.
  1. rEFInd has refind-btrfs, which should do the same as grub-btrfs. But it didn't in my case. I am not seeing any way to boot into a snapshot from rEFInd.
  1. I use BTRFS Assistant with snapper to manage snapshots.
  1. I am not seeing any way to restore the snapshot from live environment too.
  1. I am using CachyOS (Arch) with Plasma DE.
  1. I suspect the reason is my unusual /efi /boot partition layout. (attached below)
  1. I did my partition this way because, my initial EFI partition had less storage (as seen on image), so , I created another boot partition and mounted my pre-existing EFI partition to /boot/efi. I did this by referring a Youtube video (I know, I should've known better)
  1. I also encrypted my BTRFS / partition
  1. If you need any other info, please ask.

But restoring home subvol worked just fine though.

Anyways I should look what's up with refind-btrfs. Probably just gonna switch to grub.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

I use rEFInd. And installed refind-btrfs and it didn't do anything.

Also I use BTRFS assistant with snapper.

I'm using CachyOS (Arch) with BTRFS. And tried to restore snap of root subvolume and it didn't work ( see previous post ).

If I remember correctly, i successfully restored root subvolume before. Take it with a grain of salt.

Some people on my previos posts said that I shouldn't have tried restore root subvol while system is actively running through the subvol.

Now my question is,

How to restore a snap of root subvolume ?

Edit: I know how to restore a snapshot. Just need help with root subvol snapshot.

I use BTRFS Assistant with snapper. And rEFInd doens't have boot to snapshot option. (I installed and it didn't work )

I've found it on ~/.local/share/lutris/pga.db.

Btw, do you know where the KDE Plasma clipboard data is saved ? I've been using that as mini watch later list ๐Ÿ˜…

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I'm not seeing any options to select a particular subvolume for installation.

Also, my entire BTRFS partition is LUKS2 encrypted.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago

Looks like I have to do this for every game separately.

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

There is no lutris directory in .config. Some other person said it is available on ~/.local/share/lutris/pga.db. I cannot confirm it right now, because I am on limited connection.

Also, I don't have separate home partition. But I do have a separate home BTRFS subvolume though.

Is it possible to install OS on particular subvolume while leaving others untouched? (Calamares installer - CachyOS)

I am gonna reinstall my system.

But I want to keep the Time played stat of the game.

I found all other data of lutris like banners, runners, runtimes but not this.

Any Idea where can I find Time played data, if it's even saved in file ?

Also does any you know where the KDE Plasma clipboard data is saved ? I've been using that as mini watch later list ๐Ÿ˜…

It simply restarts.๐Ÿ™‚

Short Answer: No, kernels are not snapshot ted

Long Answer: It's bit weird in my case.

Boot, EFI, Root are three separate partitions in my case.

Root mounts to /

Boot mounts to /Boot

Efi mounts to /boot/efi

It is this way because when I initially partitioned the EFI, I gave very less storage. But linux kernels are bigger than that. So, either I have move the partition. Which I didn't prefer because It'll take a lot of time and it said possibility of data loss.

So, I simply created new partition.

By default, CachyOS only snapshot /@ and /@/home. Which didn't include /boot because it's a separate partition it's own and not even BTRFS.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah. I've been thinking about going back to Mint too. But the only thing stoping is that Arch is rolling distro. Which means I can get updates sooner. I mean linux gaming is getting better every day. I didn't like to be on lag for a year of improvements. Also Vavle investing lot on Arch.

I chose CachyOS, because it is made for gaming, it has decent GUI tools of its own and on top all that it's still Arch btw. So I can get benefits of Arch too.

Rolling distro can be both boon and bane. And now it didn't end up very well for me.

If you mean to ask why do i have to restore snapshot in the first place, I updated the system. And I didn't like the new update. First thing I noticed is Brave replaced all my group tabs to new tabs. When I searched about it, I came to know it's a common , critical issue that still haven't been solved๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

Also Brave is now significantly slower now.

I also noticed few are wierd or not there at all. ( Plasma 6.3.1)

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

First of all thanks.

  1. I booted live Mint.

  2. Mounted btrfs partition.

  3. I renamed the backup (snapshot that btrfs assistant created while originally restoring before) to @.

Now my system boots but .snapshots are in original @ (which now I renamed as something else). I want those snapshots or delete altogether (for freeing up space).

  1. I tried to rsync old snaps to new @. It worked, but now I have delete the snaps from old @ (source of snaps). Which I cannot do for some reason. It says read only file system. I typed sudo btrfs property set -ts /path/to/snapshot ro false it retuned error cannot retrieve properties

  2. Then I tried to delete .snapshots subvolume altogether, but it says directory not empty.

I used sudo btrfs subvolume delete /path/to/.snapshots

(.snapshots is a separate subvol mounted on old @ subvol)

Now I have a working system but all my old snaps are stuck on old root. Which I cannot delete.

Idk what to do.๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

Context: I updated my CachyOS (Arch) BTRFS system. Some new things caused few problems especially brave browser(missing tabs), some icons missing.

So I wanted to go back to previous snapshot.

What I did: I first restored my home subvol which I saved before update. I worked.

Then I tried to restored my root partition. This is where I got the problem.

I got this error.

1001090084

I would really appreciate URGENT help

If you need any more details I can provide.

I updated arch. After the update mangohud is not showing any GPU stats except GPU model.

I was working perfectly fine before.
