There is no "primary instance" for lemmy.
There is the oldest snd biggest from the devs... but as long as i use lemmy (2 years almostl they always recommend to setup your own, go to smaller instances, if you don't want an own...
And the communities if joined from there on my own lemmy are well moderated.
And if you really understood the fediverse, you will know that using kbin will not prevent you from spam from a not well moderated lemmy-instance...
So your message tells me "i've not understand the principle of federation". Not less, not more.

But you did not understand federation... kbin federates also with lemmy. It makes no difference if you use kbin or lemmy or friendica or mastodon or whatever fediverse-service which has federation on...
if there is an instance which is not well moderated, and your instance does not block this other one, you receive spam from this instance... independent what you use yourself.
kbin does not protect you from spam from lemmy because it's kbin and not lemmy... if you think so, you did not understand federation.
and now: feel free and block me. or try to understand, what federation is.
